HASH(0x99cbb2dc) out of 5 stars Good for the money. Feb. 28 2008

This is harder than it looks. I find it impossible to do without holding on to a chair. The pedals slide smoothly but there is no automatic dip in the center so you have to push one way and pull hard the other. It's a really good workout once you get used to it. No pain in my back or knees from doing the exercise.

HASH(0x99cbb504) out of 5 stars Great exercise but start slow Dec 27 2009

I recommend (unless you are extremely fit) to start using this with a chair to hold on to. I didn't and pulled a muscle in my thigh. However, I am now back on the thing and its a really good work out for your thighs (especially the insides). Great value for money.

HASH(0x99cbb768) out of 5 stars Does the Job June 21 2009

It's difficult, yes. But, the person who couldn't even MOVE it - must not even have ANY muscles (sorry, no offense). It rolls nicely and smoothly. I almost picked up the $90 version, until I saw this one. I figured I could put this one behind a chair and do the same thing. I was correct.

Don't expect the be able to do this for a half an hour when you get it. It's going to really hit your inner thighs. You'll have "jello" legs if you attempt to do it for too long.

Excellent value.

HASH(0x99cbb6e4) out of 5 stars so far so good Feb. 16 2009

I just got my leg shaper and it's really a pretty good workout. It will get your heart going and you feel good when you are done. I use it while watching tv and it fits right under my coffee table. The price makes it well worth it. I would recommend this product.

HASH(0x99cbbccc) out of 5 stars Great exercise/toning machine- compact but not for outer thighs July 15 2011

This is a great lightweight (~11 lb) machine, perfect for small spaces/apartment living. It came fully assembled and I have just started using it so I won't speak to its durability. That being said, it feels well built and sturdy enough although I would not recommend this for someone who is larger in size (i.e. 180+ lbs). If you're an active person, it is unlikely that you will get breathless from using the shaper, however, unless you have inner thighs of steel you will feel the burn, maybe not right away but try for 30 minutes non-stop and I guarantee you will feel something. The idea behind the device is simple. The plastic pedals track on a raised aluminum rail that peaks in the center. You use your muscles to squeeze your legs together, working against gravity. Since I am on the computer much of the day and hate sitting for prolonged periods, I have placed a small shelf on my desktop that allows me to type on my laptop while using this so I feel that I am getting in good exercise at the same time. Although the other reviewer commented on balance issues, I didn't find this to be a real problem. Perhaps if you build up a lot of momentum(?) However, because the rails peak in the center and not at the sides, you really do not tone your outer thighs. It would have been better designed if the rails were a U shape so that when you push your legs out you could target that area; rolling down the tracks does not require any exertion, which is what is needed to actually build muscle. In any case, a great product for the price. Storage is simple- it fits easily under a bed. As for the noise factor, no squeaking but it's not silent because you are rolling up and down. Might want to turn on the subtitles if you are watching TV ;)
