HASH(0xa0137828) out of 5 stars Absolutely LOVED!! Dec 29 2014
By Book Lover - Published on

I picked this one up because Tessa is one of my favorite authors and didn’t read the blurb first, so imagine my surprise when I read this line.

"Sawyer Callahan. First love. Taker of my virtue. Breaker of my heart. And last but not least, my stepbrother.”

I won’t lie I was pretty hooked at that line, but this isn’t really a taboo book as Sawyer and Cheyenne met before their parents married, and they were both adults.

It all started the summer before Cheyenne’s fist year of college. She was laying down by the lake when she was interrupted and accused of trespassing. Sawyer Callahan was already attending The University of Auburn and was sent to stay with his uncle as a punishment for his poor academic performance. What started out as a punishment turned into the best summer of his life.
Sawyer and Cheyenne immediately hit it off and became friends. Sawyer's dad is always traveling for work and Cheyenne’s mom is off on her latest attempt to land a rich husband. So they turn to each other, throughout the summer their connection grows and they fall in love. Neither knows where things are going since she is supposed to attend Berkley in the fall and he is going back to Auburn.

Regardless of their plans or what they want to happen things fall apart when her mother comes home announcing she has gotten married. Insisting Cheyenne join her mother and new stepfather for dinner she gets more then she bargained for when Sawyer shows up too. This is the end of the beginning, because Cheyenne leaves Georgia immediately goes to California.

Six years go by and they never see or hear about each other, until Cheyenne moves back to Atlanta for a job.

Sawyer Callahan her first love, is her new boss. Cheyenne doesn’t know what to do, she knows they can’t be together but she has never moved on from him either. Sawyer is shocked to finally see Cheyenne again and he wants to find out what happened, why she just up and left only leaving a note behind.

I absolutely loved this story about first love and second chances. This story pulled me in immediately and I was hooked. Their innocent meeting and falling in love as teenagers, to coming back together as adults. While their connection as step-siblings is not really relevant since their parents married after they were adults, it is still something most people would turn their nose up at. He is her boss at work and the sexual tension…basically I was all over this forbidden love.

This is a super quick read. It has moments of heat, but is also one of the sweetest stories I have read. It is the perfect light read when you are looking for a break from the angst and darker books.

HASH(0xa0137a74) out of 5 stars Great read!! Nov. 19 2014
Format: Kindle Edition
When I saw the title of this book I thought that this was going to be another sappy story about a Southern romance that ended on a bad note. I was so far from the facts on this book!! Never judge a book by the cover or title! You might just be surprised what is awaiting you on the inside!! It took me a little to get into this book, but after just a few chapters, I was hooked on Sawyer and Cheyenne. I love how both of these characters came into the story not wanting anything from each other and ended up finding true love! Sawyer is just a dreamy good mannered guy and treats Cheyenne with the utmost respect. I don't know too many men that would be able to restrain themselves the way that Sawyer did with Cheyenne to make sure that she was ready for him and was not making a rash decision. Cheyenne was a loner and spent most of her time before moving to college just waiting on the time to pass. Cheyenne and her mother had a horrible relationship and once you meet her, you will probably feel the same way that Cheyenne does towards her mom. No good feeling were felt for her after you found out how she treated her only daughter. I love how this book was written from both perspectives of the two main characters. You got both sides of the story as you were reading and not just one! Brilliant of Tessa Teevan at keeping you in touch with both Sawyer's and Cheyenne's feelings throughout the book.
This book has a HEA but I would love to know more about what comes of Sawyer and Cheyenne in their future together. I love that Cheyenne gave herself completely to Sawyer after fighting her feelings for so long. She knew in her heart all along that she belonged with Sawyer but tried to fight those feelings for as long as she could, not wanting to let him in. The way that Sawyer was so persistent proves his love for Cheyenne and what a great guy he really is. He never gives up on their love and does everything within his power to prove to Cheyenne that they were destined to be together. You get the feeling that once they find out they are step siblings that everything is going to be called off for good, but that is so not the way that Tessa lets it end and I am so glad that she didn't! This couple's love for each other is too good to let go of! Thanks Tessa for a great read!!

HASH(0xa0137cb4) out of 5 stars This just wasn't the one for me. July 23 2014

I was a little let down with this book. I've LOVED all three books in Tessa's Explosive series, this one however fell short for me.

Her writing style was totally different in this book, and in some parts it felt like maybe she was rushing to get this book published.

The characters are great - I loved them, and I loved the premise of their story but this just wasn't the one for me.

HASH(0xa0137e58) out of 5 stars True love survive anything Nov. 17 2014

"one swallow takes you from me, and two will bring you back. As long as you have the swallow, forever we won't lack. And in the spring, when the swallows appear, I'll always know that you are near."

Imagine that summer love you had before college, the woman who stole your heart, that took you virginity. The one you had to leave behind, do you remember the pain, the heart ace, the tears. Now imagine 6 years later you walk into your new job and the man who stole your heart is your new boss and part owner of the company. How would you react? what will you do.

I got a ARC copy of this book for the blog tour and let me tell you this book won't disappoint at all.

I loved the fact that the book was written out of both main characters Cheyenne and Sawyers perspective. The book plays out also in the present and in the past and you might think it will be confusing but trust me it isn't. all of this gives Sweet Southern Sorrow a fresh and new feel.

"I had to get out of there before I jumped across the table hyena style and ripped her extensions out"

All the emotions are captured perfectly. Cheyenne always being a banded, is saved by Sawyer. Losing her dad so young, Her mom who hates her and her obsessions with swallows makes Chey a extremely relatebille character.

And don't let me get started on City Boy Sawyer. he is always trying to please his father living up to the family name, but Chey or pretty girl as he calls her shows him it's o.k to follow your own heart.

The struggle these to fighting their feelings for each other and how to overcome the struggles and obstacles facing them is both heart warming and frustrating.

"what I wouldn't give to inside your ... Head, MS. Hamilton. I do believe you're blushing at whatever you're thinking of."

Your read Sweet southern Sorrow quite quickly, always wanting to know why, what will happen next.

I would recommend Sweet Southern Sorrow to any one who loves a good romance

I give this book 5 stars.

I have adored all of Tessa's books but this one fell flat for me. I loved the set up, the characters, & the drama. I found Sawyer a tad but annoying as the story progressed and Cheyenne was too quick to run. I thought it was going to be okay but then all of a sudden the book is over. It should have progressed more before ending.
