My only issue is that the switch is limited to one type of plain old one-way switch installation. It seems that my home is wired with mostly power-through and two-way switches. Both types are incompatible with this switch. Fortunately, I found (only) two regular one-way switches in my home.
It loses one star only for lack of versatility (and not making these limitations clear - before buying) and lack of compatibility with home automation standards like IFTTT. :(
The Android App could use some more contextual help to explain things like 'away' mode and other modes. But you can figure out the functions through trial and success.
Installation was easy provided that you understand a little bit the eletric circuts. Although suggested to have plastic housing, mine was metal with case grounding it still works
Paired with Echo Dot (bought it in USA) this is the future!!
The app was easy to use as well, but honestly I bought it for Echo experience. Hardly use the app
Strongly suggest for those want to gradually automate their home!!!
Installation: The installation is guided by the Kasa App associated with TP Link's smart devices. The process of installing it is mainly just matching the wire colors and twisting the 4 wires together correctly. Very trivial tasks if you don't have much electrical knowledge, but the experience may vary if 1. your house wiring was done by a cut rate electrician who didn't use the right color wires or 2. There's a missing/hard to reach earth and/or neutral wires. I personally had some issues getting the switch to fit in. My switch box had very thick solid copper wires which took up a lot of space. Thus it took a lot of effort to fit the Wi-Fi switch itself as it has more depth than the normal light switch I replaced.
Usage: Using this switch is simple, it can be turned on and off by the app, note that this can only be done while on the same Wifi network as the switch. The app also allows scheduling of when the switch turns on and off, and some other features like away times and timers. To use these features remotely, TP Link says you just need an account and it apparently it should work, but it doesn't. So other than that there's no other instructions on how to set it up. To actually access remotely you need to port forward port 9999 from outside to port 9999 on the switch (Search up how to do that for your router specifically). So that's pretty lame as TP-Link never provided proper instructions on how to do this, although I suspect that if someone has one of their routers this is done automatically.
Overall though the product does work well for its advertised functionality. It also looks pretty nice on the wall, the dim LEDs mounted in the front are a nice touch as they aren't too bright but can help find the switch in the dark. If it weren't for the poorly handled instructions on remote access it would probably be a 5 star for me.
Cons: Not much to gripe about. The Kasa app is pretty intuitive. However, I do find that the app's widget is not very reliable. You can set scenes and activate them via the widget. But after waking my phone from lock mode the widget often doesn't work or the scenes are missing. This means I have to open the app to control the lights. It's possibly an issue with my phone but my other home automation widgets aren't affected so I doubt it. If you're using voice control (Alexa, google home, etc) then it's probably not a big issue.
