    Usage:

I needed an ADSL2+ compatible modem to use with TekSavvy DSL service. Connected my AiPort Express Wifi router to the modem. Setup was pretty easy (the PPP login information was entered in AirPort Express).

    Pros:
    - Easy Setup
    - I'm getting proper DSL speed (15Mbps down and 1Mbps up)

    Cons:
    - The plastic/buttons seem slightly flimsy but for the relatively cheap price it's alright. Plus, it works silently in a corner so unlikely to see any damage.

Worked very well out of the box. This is my second TP-Link ADSL2+ modem in a row. They are great because they are cheap, but I notice that the speed drops over a few years and one has to replace the modem. I got around 15 Mbps out of the box and that dropped to 9-12 Mbps after about 2-3 years. Confirmed with the provider that it was the equpment. But, because they are affordable, it's not a big issue.

Bought this to replace a D-Link DSL-520B which failed in less than 2 months. On a Sunday, a support person named Csloe at TP-Link Tech Support, (866) 225-8139, who was polite, patient & friendly, talked me through setting up the modem on my MacBook Pro to connect through PPPoE, and also through my Netgear WNDR 3400v2 Wi-Fi router, to the internet. The modem comes with a power supply rated at only 3 watts (5V, 0.6A), has plenty of ventilation holes, and runs barely warm, so it has at least the potential to run a long time. It boots up along with my router fairly quickly, and so far has given me no trouble. So far, I have no complaints, and am very satisfied.

PERFECT modem for Bell Internet (aka Sympatico) replacement. Bell provide me the crappy 2WIRE modem/router combo and the router part of the combo was SOOO poor, I definitely need to do something to improve my WiFi network in my house. So I took this modem with a D-LINK AC1200 wireless router and voila! Much stronger and MUCH more powerfull wireless network! For your info this modem need absolutely NO SETTINGS, you simply unpack-it brand new, plug telephone line, network cable from modem to routeur and power it up! Then you put your PPPoE login/password in your routeur and THAT'S IT, you have a working connection with Bell Canada.

    -----

Using this in bridge mode and hooked into a separate wireless router to supply wireless access throughout the house. It works well and is cheap! Setup was fast using the wizard setup utility but I've went further into the settings to disable the DHCP and selected Bridge Mode on this Modem then entered my DSL settings, username and password to connect to Teksavvy into my Router and set the router to use DHCP.

All my devices run flawless and I'm getting 12 to 13 Megs down, 1 Meg up on a 15/1 package from Teksavvy so I'm pleased!

I've had this modem for nearly two years.

Most of the time, it works perfectly. But sometimes, at random, it'll suddenly drop the connection (usually right in the middle of you doing something) and try to re-connect over and over. Sometimes it'll fix itself, but more often than not the modem will get caught in a loop of "connect, disconnect 15-30 seconds later, re-connect".

It can be upwards of a month, week, or even a single day before it acts up. When will it? Who knows, but the only thing that will get the modem working again once it does is a factory reset. Not a power cycle, not pressing the reset button on the back, but a full factory reset only accessible by going into the modem's menu (which involves changing network settings and fiddling with cables, very annoying).

Just be warned that if you get this modem, you'll have to put some work in every now and then.

    It works great.

The issue was the internet provider said to set it up as PPoE however if you are using a router, you have to set it up as a bridge a put the PPoE account information in the router. Couldn't find that in the manual, so it took me some time to find out.

I bought this to use withe Canadian ISP TekSavvy. It does require some ADSL settings to be entered before it will work, but it has worked perfectly since then. For TekSavvy - the auto settings did not work for me.

Love this thing, it's small, cheap and effective. Better than anything Shaw or Telus will give you for their Internet. Note this thing is tiny, you might lose it in the wires that will inevitably cover it.
