Landon & Autumn! I love them!! This story is beautifully written, and I love that the author chose to give us more of Landon's voice than Autumn's. Not that I didn't adore Autumn - I did a lot. She is still recovering from a lot of emotional & physical abuse that took place in school, and I admire the way her strength is portrayed. And her weakness, too. Because the kind of constant mental abuse perpetrated by the bullies in this story on a daily basis definitely has a lasting effect on one's psyche. Sometimes you can't just bounce back from that, no matter the changes in your life later, so to see her struggles, and really feel them... Well, just kudos to the author for the way she wrote everything!

And now back to Landon - he's been on cloud nine with a blessed life for most of his 25 or so years (I'm guessing at age; they're somewhere around there). We meet him first, and see how everything goes to the crapper for a bit for him. He moves back home & meets Autumn & fights really hard for her. I just loved seeing into his heart and getting to know him throughout the story. : )

This is a two thumbs up, keeper shelf, re-read, and I'm looking forward to more from this author!

Oh, AND the wrap up & epilogue were sweet & marvelous, as well. Take a shot w/ this story - I don't think you'll be disappointed! : )

Landon Stone is an NFL quarterback who has a torn ACL and MCL and makes a recovery, but on the first day back to practice he is blindsided by one of his own teammates and is forced to retire. Little does he know that his wife Valerie has been spending money out of control and 2 million dollars is down the drain. Valerie files for a divorce and promises to milk him for whatever she can get out of him - ok, this is the part where you call Valerie every name you can think of because holy cow do her true colors come out.

Autumn McCray works at Landon's mom's bakery. Her mom died when she was 12 and was raised her father. She was bullied and picked on all through school. And who do you think the ringleader was? Oh yeah, that's right Valerie the b%*^&.

Landon moves back home to recover and try to pick up whatever pieces are left of his life. And now he sees Autumn for the first time since high school and he can't stay away.

How do you build a relationship when you have a wife fighting for more from the divorce, tabloids, old high school enemies that don't realize it's not high school anymore and finding out you were targeted by your teammate to be taken out? I'm not sure but the ride was fun to watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slow and steady romance. Real life situations and issues. Love and acceptance forging a way to their hearts and ours-5 stars!! Oct. 25 2014

I received a free copy if this book in exchange for an honest review.

Tackled by Love is the story of coming of age on Landon a high school quarterback that made the pros and marries the then cheerleader, who is someone who is easy to hate as the book goes along and Autumn, a girl who's mom and died and she used food as an emotional crutch. She was teased and bullied all through high school because of her weight by a group who's ringleader was Landon's wife Valerie.

All is well with Landon until a series of injuries, the last one, suspect in nature, brings his life to a halt and he loses almost everything that he thinks is important to him. After leaving high school Autumn loses weight and is diligent in keeping it off. She gets a job at Landon's mom's bakery and continues for years learning professional cake decorating. Landon's mom knows what happened to Autumn in the past and looks out for her. Autumn's dad is around and loves her but has a hard time getting it together after her mom's death.

After forced retirement and surgery again, Landon comes home to get some peace, rest up, get better and make some plans about his life. He and Valerie have separated and are heading towards divorce. Landon is attracted to Autumn like a moth to a flame but years of bullying have left her skeptical of anyone's intentions toward her. She really feels there is no reason to love her and she will find the joke is on her. Landon works hard and uses patience and diligence in getting her to understand how he feels about her and that he is not going away. There are lots of missteps, lies to overcome and steps backwards that request forgiveness before going on. Thank goodness for Landon's mom, who makes Landon see how hard her life was in high school due to bullying. She is his supporter and wants to see them both happy with each other, if possible.

This is a great romance, Slow and steady. You can relate to Landon and Autumn and how they feel. Your heart tugs when things go badly and soars when things start moving forward. This is a book about how life really is most of the time for most everyone. It was great to have the epilogue as well as I love knowing how things turn out down the road and these two had a lot going on. I loved this book and wish I could have given it more stars. This is a book I will keep and read again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Football & love May 25 2015

"I've been tackled by love. Tackled so hard that I felt like the wind was knocked out of me, but it's not just any love. It's Landon's love. And it feels amazing."

Autumn McCray was dubbed "porky" in high school. She was the fat girl that everyone made fun of. After her mother died when she was 12 she used food as a comfort. So after dealing with one in high school she used that as motivation to loose weight and change her ways! But the insecurities are still there.

Landon Stone had it all! The hot wife, the nice house, and was the all American quarterback! One injury sets him back. He recovers but after going back he's blindsided with a hit and forced to retire making him loose everything, the wife he thought would always be there and the career every man wants! After returning home he finds it impossible to stay away from the new Autumn. But his ex wife has everything to say about that!

What more could you ask for than love, football, and a hot male lead! Couldn't put this down and so glad I one-clicked it!!

I really like this author. Her storytelling is beautiful and the flow of the book is flawless. This really was a page turner.

I didn't like that the book was manufactured as a book about an NFL Quarterback. Landon is a football player but that's only a small fraction of the beginning of the book. Landon gets a career ending injury and the majority of the book is him moving back to his home town and restarting his life. He falls quickly for Autumn the awkward overweight girl from high school. Autumn was cruelly tormented all through high school by the popular kids, which was headed up by Valerie, Landon's soon to be ex wife.

Here were my issues. Valerie was clearly a mean spirited, money grubbing, horrible person. This wasn't something she out grew in high school. How did he not see the horrible person she was before they got married? In fact no one from high school grew up. It was like watching a middle school drama play out. The mean kids still picking on Valerie. I loved Landon. He was very determined to win Autumn over and make her his. But Autumn was very week. I know she must have residual bitterness and hurt over all she endured but she constantly let outside interference into her relationship with Landon. She was ready to high tail it and run after any obstacle.

It had a lovely epilogue and I loved that Landon got his HEA that he deserved.
