But if you use the 32 GB card that comes with it, then, there is no problems, the files can be seen in the playback position.
I purchased this camera to record and playback if needed, and it does that well.
The only reason I am removing a Star is because when you press on the "!" icon it will only record 10 sec before pressing the button and 20 sec after pressing the button for a total of 30 sec. Every other dashcam I had when we were pressing on this button it was saving the whole 3 min recording file (i did choose the 3 min loop). So if something is happening on a big roadtrip and you do not have any access to a computer to save your files and you have a whole 3 min session that you want to keep in a security folder... too bad for you it will be overwritten. It will only save the little 30sec part.
-What seems like a robust camera
-Comes with a 32GB SD (though I'd recommend switching out to another)
-Lots of features on the camera (looping, G-sensor, motion sensor)
-Quite a few recording options (1080p30fps/45fps, 720p, 2K, etc)
I recommend using the 12V USB power adapter given. I used a different one and it kept shutting down on me.
So far no problems detected, but it will have to stand the test of time.
I won't give 5 stars because I feel like this camera is priced too heavily
Pros: Manual is decent. Easy to setup. Even easier to get videos from. Good Quality images. Can read a plate from a car length or so. Adequate card included. Solid construction
Cons: Cable should be longer. GUI could be more intuitive. Car charger was missing but that was addressed.
Summary: Worth the hundred bucks. Others may be slightly better, others may be slightly worse. Odds are in favor of this little guy though.
Strangely, after setting up proper date and time, after a week of use, it screwed up timing.
Started recording it a couple of weeks since received it. Weirdly, it records randomly. When I start engine starts flawlessly and begins recording. but records 18 sec/29 sec video and interrupts, and may not even record for 10 min. Time to time it records those 5 min videos. Some of them are just about 2 min 29 sec and decides to take a break for 3 - 5 or even 10 min. Which is not great because I will never be sure it will capture accident.
Quality of picture varies. Mostly is fine under HDR mode. Other occurrence makes further objects blurry, sometimes.
Will fiddle around with options and see if there are any improvements.
Updates are coming up...
Update, 11 months and temperatures from +36C to -32C and still working flawlessly. Occasionally have to reset suction cups used for mounting, but they are fantastic. A lot of great footage captured while driving, or as parked (wildlife etc.) Would not hesitate to buy again if need to replace any.
This camera has withstood extreme cold and blistering heat here in Canada with no issues whatsoever. It is reliable and picture quality is exceptional.
upon starting the truck the next day the recording would stop - I updated the firmware then had loads of issues to the point that it stopped working altogether
I reset the unit and am now waiting to see if it comes back to normal
I'll try and update later
I had some emails from the company and sorted out the issue I was having. Turns out I had set the options incorrectly and after adjusting, the system is working as expected.
Thanks for the support emails.
