Sebastian is the dashing rake with a sleeping problem and a teeny tiny secret, Annabel is the fish out of water heroine with a lack-of-money problem. Annabel needs to marry a man with money and her grandparents have decided to "help". Enter the Earl of Newbury, three times her age, but filthy rich. Sebastian Grey is Newbury's nephew and a not a beloved one. If Newbury dies before siring a son, Mr. Grey inherits everything. Lord Newbury will NOT let that happen! That set up, combined with the most delicious humor makes this book one of the best books I've read in a while. I really do hope we can revisit those characters again. I loved all of them from Olivia and Harry Valentine, Edward Valentine (Sebastian's cousins), Louisa (Annabel's cousin), Annabel's Grandmother Lady Vickers, even Frederick the dog. This book is such a mood lifter. I highly recommend it.
Sebastian Grey is not eager for his uncle's title or wealth, though the money would be convenient. Most believe Sebastian has little money to call his own. However, unknown by even his closest friends, Sebastian has a secret income. Due to his insomnia, caused by memories of being a sniper in the war, Sebastian writes outrageous gothic novels. They are published pseudonymously and over the last few years have become all the rage.
When Sebastian meets Annabel, he has no idea that she is his uncle's latest victim...uh wife-to-be. Annabel becomes the object of both their affections. Soon Annabel must choose between her family's livelihood and the man she has come to love.
***** FIVE STARS! To read a book by Julia Quinn is always a pleasure. This story overflows with Quinn's signature talents. ONE: The characters are very well developed.Read more ›
Not only is Annabel Winslow gorgeous, she has a wonderful sense of humour, almost as good as Sebastian's. Their courtship is turbulent, wrought with mishaps, obstacles and hilarious one-liners from Sebastian. Must Read. No actually, MUST-MUST read. Like, right now.

This wasn't my favorite of her books, but it had all the elements I love about her work. Which is they are light, humorous, and rather sweet. Sometimes I just need the fluff.Published 22 days ago by jennifer
