Product Description

I am a sociopath.

I know this because I diagnosed myself.

I have a PhD in Clinical Psychology from a very prestigious university.

I am charming, attractive, and you probably want to sleep with me.

I take what I want, when I want, and I enjoy picking the most tragic of all my patients to experiment with.

I have no remorse, I am unrelenting in my pursuit of tragedy, and I am about to meet my match.

Her name is not important, I am only allowed to call her Mistress. She is a femme fatale, a patient, and now an obsession.

She will destroy me, I will do anything to get inside of her.

I can already feel her inside of me.

**Trigger warning. This novel is not a love story, but more of a journey through a few short days in the life of a madman. What you see is not always what you get, reality is altered through his eyes and sometimes there is no happily ever after.

Holy mother effing mind eff! It was such a skewed story. Like a scene through a persons eyes on acid LOL! You never knew what was real or imagined with him. What he made up in his twisted head and what was real.
To be in a sociopaths head was a scary place to be but I loved it. It was so different than anything I'd ever read before.
Not for the faint of heart (by a long effing shot) it will mess u up! I liked it, I think that makes me a bit crazy too LOL
Crazy hot though... The sex scenes were varied between super hot and slightly disturbing (in a good way).
It was a twisted fricken ride but I loved it, I never knew what was going to happen next!

HASH(0x9edf3c30) out of 5 stars Gray Area May 22 2014
By Kyleigh Jane - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
FIRST THINGS FIRST- let me just tell you right out of the gate that this is NOT a romance.
This is not the story of a cold and rigid, reluctantly lovable billionaire alpha-hero who finds his heart and his redemption in a beautiful big-hearted doe-eyed heroine.
No. This is a mind-job of a story about a salacious and manipulative sociopath therapist, that is chock-full of deviant sexual encounters (M/f, M/M/f, M/M), questionable (Dubcon) content, obliterated boundaries, and a boatload of mental issues.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, though I'm not sure what that says about me as a person...

If you like unconventional stories that push buttons and boundaries, this is a great choice. If you don't like to read in a gray area, this probably isn't your read.
Upon turning the last page I found myself saying, "what... the hell just happened here?..."

Push my boundaries, baby. Good times.

The Therapist
By: Jaden Wilkes
5/5 stars

If you are looking for the typical romance or any real romantic notions and an HEA, this isn’t your book. But if you like sick, dark and twisted…PICK THIS BOOK UP NOW!!!

My mind is blown away!! This is one twisted mindf*** and I loved it. Although I may need medication…or something…but really after reading this, I may just stick with booze…and never see a therapist in my life!!

Dr. Alexandre Dane is a sociopath, who you start out hating a lot, then hating a little, then sorrow because he is obviously suffering from a mental illness and you can’t help but hope that he gets the help he needs.

He’s a clinical psychologist with very unconventional means of treating the women who come to him for help. His treatment is purely experimental, and he enjoys making his patients relive their tragedies, for his personal enjoyment, not always to help them.

Nothing is always as it seems. Your head will trip, run in circles and make you dizzy. I really can’t go in to much more detail without spoiling the book. So you’ll just have to pick this book up for yourself and take the crazy train with Dr. Dane and the women in his life.

HASH(0x9edf3f60) out of 5 stars A visit to the Therapist...let the healing begin... June 20 2014

I wanted to be disgusted as I read this was at times THAT ugly and disturbing...then I had to remind myself it was dark dark fiction and the author had definitely forewarned all of us what to expect.
I'm not going to summarize the story (plenty of other reviewers have done that already and you can also read the synopsis)...but what I will tell you is strap in for the nasty and sexually deviant ride of your life. You will be shocked and maybe completely turned on (or off)...plenty of non-con and extremely violent sexual activity.
I found myself thinking "Fight Club" as I was well as "American Psycho"...gather from that what you will and go in with an open mind.
I really was drawn in by the first half of the book and then it took a turn way farther into crazy town than I was expecting...the ending left me more pissed off than satisfied. Definitely a unique and darker book than most. Not for the faint of heart.

HASH(0x9edf3e58) out of 5 stars Brilliant story and a brilliant ending! May 28 2014

This amazing read had me sitting on the edge of my seat from the very first line. Being in Dr. Dane's head was quite the trip and at times it was very difficult to like what he was doing, although he was a likable person. I liken it to a car accident, you really shouldn't look because you don't know what you are going to see, but for some reason you cannot look away. There were extremely sizzling parts to this book. Dr. Dane has an unorthodox way with his patients, that surprisingly they don't mind. The twists and turns throughout this story make it so you cannot put it down. Jaden has masterfully created a story that will grab you by the hands in the beginning and pull you into a world where you cannot believe what is going on. If you love a great story with some steam, raw emotion and some plot twists, then this is the story for you! Brilliant story with an unexpected ending!

HASH(0x9f12d060) out of 5 stars Brilliant and Appalling All At Once… July 22 2014
By Shanyn Doan - Published on

You’re reading a book and you know something has started to go hinky. You can feel the characters starting to go sideways and the plot starting to shift and you just know in your bones that all is not what it seems. But you keep going because how bad could it really get? I mean it is just a book after all. It’s full of fake characters and a fake story that doesn’t actually matter in the “real” world. Except you finish it and then your head explodes.

Alexandre Dane is a therapist specializing in sexual trauma. He’s also a sociopath. And carries around a tremendous amount of his own baggage. In some respects, it’s actually a really good thing that he’s a sociopath as his lack of emotional attachment to events and people keep him functioning in a way that a better-adjusted human being would not be. But you can still feel him starting to spiral as the story moves along. And you don’t know whether you should feel sorry for him or worry for the people that are bound to get blown to pieces when he does finally go all the way over the edge.

There is a whole cast of other characters in this book that Alexandre burns through in one way or another. He either f**** them, f**** with them, tolerates them or dismisses them entirely. His need for other people is situational at best in that he needs them around only to fulfill needs he can’t otherwise meet himself. The array of other people littering this story are interesting in their own right and the way he interacts with each of them is equally intriguing. There are moments when we see beyond Alexandre’s lack of attachment to his own self-reflection as it’s brought on by a relationship with one of these other people and it’s extraordinary to get that peek behind the curtain of his muddled mind.

Jaden Wilkes has written a book that is three parts brilliant and one part appalling. Brilliant in how it’s told. Brilliant in the patience she displays as she walks us through Alexandre’s undoing. Brilliant in the way that she has him interact with all of the other characters and what they each bring out of him. Brilliant that she got me to emotionally invest in this cruel and completely detached man. Appalling for all of the same reasons. Some of the things Alexandre does to other people and himself are truly horrific to read.

To say that this book is only a mindf*** lets the reader off the hook. Sure, you could read this book, chalk it up for crazy town and move on. But it could be so much more than that if you allow it. The puppet strings are pulled so masterfully you don’t even see them until the lights come up at the end of the production. But the real trick is thinking that the characters are the ones attached to the end of those strings when in reality, it’s us. The readers. Being jerked willy nilly at Wilkes’ whim and whimsy. It’s a ride to be sure and one for which I would gladly sign up as many times as I’m allowed.
