HASH(0x9df34a2c) out of 5 stars Awesome Thermos Helps Drink More Water June 6 2009

Follow up comment: 7/25/09 - The only problem I have been experiencing with this bottle is that the silicone lining inside the top-cap, which is supposed to create a water-tight seal, starts to smell after a couple of days of use. It's not that big of a deal. But you will need to wash the cap in soap every other day or so to get rid of the smell.

I own this one as well as the 18 Oz pop-cap type Thermos. I love them both. But I use the 26 Oz bottle most of the time because I don't have to refill so often. I use it at home and while playing tennis outside or at the club. It's summer now and I love using all the time. The loop attaching the cap to bottle is removable and got rid of the loop on day 1. It's much more convenient without it. These are the things I like about this thermos:

1. This one does the job very well - keeps the water at the same temperature for several hours.
2. The bottle doesn't condense water (AT ALL!) on the outside when cold water is inside.
3. The opening is PERFECT size for drinking most comfortably. The water flow is constant and you won't choke when trying to gulp down with bottoms up.
4. It's really not much bigger than non-insulated bottles of the same size.
5. Fits in most cup holders
6. Very hygienic with no exposure to plastics. It's 100% stainless steel. The only place it's not is on tops of the openings - where to screw the top cap and main cap. They used silicone type material in order to create a seal when closed.
7. Does not leak.
8. Last but definitely not the least - MAKES YOU DRINK MORE WATER. I have been drinking way more water than before.

Go for it. It's a great product. You will keep thanking yourself in the many years of use. I've have it for a couple of months, but haven't gone a day without using it.

BTW, I totally disagree with the reviewer that gave this product 1 star. Just because this one has a screw cap doesn't mean it's not a hydration bottle. I use it for the very purpose - hydration - at home and when I play tennis. You know, all professional athletes drink out of bottles with screw caps on them. You mean to say, that's not hydrating. It's ridiculous.

HASH(0x9dc99bd0) out of 5 stars Good Water Bottle March 15 2009
A Kid's Review - Published on
This holds about 3 cups of water. I add 7-8 ice cubes and the water stays cold all day long. The cover twists off from the stainless steel part and the drinking cap can't get lost because it is attached to the cover. Easy to clean, although a bit heavy. I like this because I can chug my water down without using a sip straw which sometimes can get clogged. If you drink alot of water, this is a good product.

HASH(0x9da71fc0) out of 5 stars Great product, a little bulky July 23 2009

I bought this product because I was tired of getting my bag wet from condensation with my Camelbak water bottle, which left rings and puddles on my work desk. Plus, I was annoyed with having to time my visit to the cafeteria everyday before it closed to refresh my ice. I had tried every method to have cold water throughout the day, including freezing large amounts of water the night before in the Camelbak to get a slow melt the next day. The last straw was when I was intending to buy a neoprene sleeve for the Camelbak in the hopes of not getting my paperwork wet...and then my (now genius) husband suggested I look at the Thermos line.

This one is leakproof, does not leave rings and puddles, and does not sweat all over my bag - goodbye, sloppy, wet mess! The top can be screwed off to make filling with ice easier. I fill the Thermos to the top with ice and water at night, with confidence the ice will still be there 24 hours later. I even had to pour hot water into the Thermos tonight to melt the ice so it would fall out so I could clean it.

This Thermos is a bit bulky and heavier than what I'm used to (not ideal for carrying on a hike), but its size means I don't have to fill it up with water that often when it sits on my office desk. Of the five Thermos products I own, I find that this one is the hardest to clean with a bottle brush, as it is the tallest, and it does not fit on the top shelf of my dishwasher.

Yet, I give it five stars because it provides great insulation, and I have appreciated its capacity during long car rides to ensure an ample supply of cold water. Thermos products are the best!

HASH(0x9da71f3c) out of 5 stars Best water bottle ever July 10 2010

OK, let me start by saying I drink a lot of water, close to 2 gallons a day and I also drink water at night (diabetic). Anyway I purchased several highly rated bottles but 2 things kept me looking for better. First most were way too small for me as I can down a 19oz. bottle in minutes. Second they would not keep the water cold and of course always had condensation on them. Aluminum bottles always tasted metallic.

This bottle is plenty big, it's vacuum insulated so ice lasts all day (oh yea the opening is big enough to put ice in it). Since it's stainless you really don't taste anything but water (see note below) and it's easy to open and despite what one person said about the loop being fragile, I carry mine by the loop all the time and it's very strong. Been carrying it that way for about 7 or 8 months now.

All I can say is quite reading and buy this already (and no I have nothing to gain by sales). I do want to mention what to do about odd tastes.

Note: After having mine for a month and washing it regularly I was noticing 2 distinct tastes, dish soap and metal. I tried over and over to get rid of them but nothing worked. Then I read somewhere to fill it full of warm water and a few teaspoons of baking soda, shake and let sit for an hour or so, fill it all the way to the very top with the top in place, this took the taste away right away and now when I clean it I just do this right after and never had a bad taste since.

This is a very high quality water bottle overall.
Very sturdy and wont leak. In fact you only have to slightly tighten the caps to get a water tight seal.
I made a wrap around handle using velcro, which makes it easier to carry around.
It costs a bit more than your average water bottle....but the fact that it keeps the drink cold and no sweating makes it worth the price.
This water bottle is more or less a insulated canteen.
Not only will it keep your liquids cold....but if your in a cold climate it will keep your water from freezing as well.
I don't see why you couldn't keep hot liquids in the bottle. Thermos doesn't recommend hot contents mainly because of the spout.
Drinking hot coffee from the spout could burn your mouth.
If you carry hot liquids in this bottle do so at your own risk.
I would pour the hot liquid in a cup rather than drink directly from the thermos.
Top notch product.......and worth purchasing.
Great service from Amazon as usual.
