I started my flying career about the same time as Lorne.I replaced Lorne as a Dockboy in Campbell River and eventually got to fly commercially as Lorne did. I envy the experience and varied flying he did up north, as I was hired by Canadian Pacific in 1965 and mostly flew overseas, ending my career on the 747-400 and retired January 01, 2000, missed the Aircanada merger.
What a fantastic career he had, mostly the friends he made while flying up north. I wouldn’t have traded my career for his but would have loved to fly in the arctic for at least one season.
Really enjoyed the the book and would recommend it to anyone interested in aviation and flying up north.

About the Author
Captain Lorne Christensen "A journey started by a young boy with a zest for life, who just couldn't abide school as he was growing up on Vancouver Island, developed into an incredible unfolding tale of Canadiana, as his boyish enthusiasm, innate intellect and reasoning ability took him from the halcyon days of youth to a position where he was entrusted with the training of airline pilots. For 50 years he participated in the development of Canada's flying industry, is now retired with his family, back on Vancouver Island, and offers here an inside view of life in the cockpit, its soaring joys, its challenges and the camaraderie shared by flight crews. Those whose lives he was entrusted with on his myriad flights surely were reassured by the calm, confident manner and gentlemanly bearing of Captain Lorne Christensen." Elida Peers, OBC
