"This is interesting. I found there were a lot of things I didn't know about. It goes well beyond the story of the movie to tell you the truth behind what happened. Very sad, though."

HASH(0x9c2de7a4) out of 5 stars RIP OFF! March 10 2012
By chrissy - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I should've realized that the number of pages the book contained not being listed cant be a good sign, but I gave this awful book a chance. Spending $5.00 on a book you can read in 10 minutes hardly seems worth it, but to add insult to injury, the book is full of photos of "Jack and Rose" from the movie. I'm looking for legitimate. Titanic information, nit superficial information for people interested solely because they think Leonardo Dicaprio is cute. Skip, skip skip or risk a HUGE disappointment!

HASH(0x9c2de7f8) out of 5 stars It is very short.. April 2 2012
By Cheryl M-M - Published on

It is novella length so I read it in 20 mins. I am not sure what relevance the film info and photos had when it comes to depicting actual facts about the Titanic. It has some pictures in it that are def. worth looking at and Titanic fans will find they are keepers. There are some chapters on premonitions and books that were published prior to the incident, which describe the tragedy with a almost uncanny details. The author also tackles the question of whether the third class passengers were locked in, due to the fact there were no more life boats left by the time they got up on deck. All in all it contains information which most of us have already seen or heard, but it was a very short read.

When I started the book I wasn't sure whether or not I would spend the time to get through this short read, even though I enjoy feeding my fascination with Titanic. The beginning felt as though I was reading a college term paper but the tone improved as the book progressed.

The book isn't "full" of "Jack and Rose" photos. I believe the author opted to open with this method in order to emphasize the love affair a great number of people seem to have with all things Titanic related.

There aren't startling new revelations in the book but it is convenient to have information compiled in one spot. I did enjoy having the different theories of the sinking since the discovery of the Titanic remains all spelled out.

A weak point for me was also a fact purported to be truth about Bruce Ismay pocketing one of the ice warnings received by Titanic. According to my research, this is only half the story of that event, as according to, the message was retrieved from Ismay later that evening by Capt. Smith and posted in the ship's chart room. I don't believe there is any irrefutable evidence that Capt. Smith allowed Bruce Ismay to have a final say in Titanic sailing decisions.

I was able to get this book at no cost when it was offered for free for a short time in March 2012. For free, or even $.99, it has some good information to share and photos as well. I can't recommend paying today's pricing of $4.97, however.

HASH(0x9c2dec18) out of 5 stars This Book Is Not Good May 2 2013

This book gleans a few facts from other books you have read, it restates them in an infantile way. The grammar is very poor. There are no new or insightful revelations. Do NOT buy this book.

This comes across as a mediocre report written for a middle school history class. It's definitely not worth the time.
