HASH(0x9e4c9b90) out of 5 stars ANOTHER CRT WINNER May 5 2012

I just listened to Tom Corbett from Colonial and I loved it! I don't know what it is with this group, but they are all over the map with different genre's from westerns to horror to sci fi, and this latest production is a winner. Tom Corbett is an exciting adventure that has so much energy that when it was over I wanted another adventure! The lead actors are letter perfect for their roles; Tom is commanding and definitely has his feet on the ground. Astro sounds like the youngest and the geekiest, and Roger is the wise cracking cadet with a heart. All three have distinctive voices so you always know who is who. The sound effects give the show a cinematic feel, and as always the Colonial music department delivers in top form. The supporting players are also great and it was fun to hear JT Turner show up as their boss (I am a huge fan of colonials Father Brown series which he stars in). While the show has the feel of a 1950's adventure, it is still very much a thing of the present with the stereo effects. The story is engrossing (about mutant robots bent on destroying the planets where man has settled)and never drags. I really hope colonial does more of these. I love modern audio drama, and I think CRT is one of the best.

I was a huge fan of the tv series growing up and this broadcast brought my childhood all back to me. The action was amazing! All that was missing was me sitting in front of a tv eating my corn flakes. Great buy!!

The original "Tom Corbett, Space Cadet" was orginally an Old Time Radio and TV series and just a bit before my time. My only exposure to it has been through some OTR sci-fi podcasts. It's pure juvenile actioneer science fiction and entertaining for what it is and this Colonial Radio Theater production is a fine updating of the show. I'm glad to see that CRT is doing such a diverse array of genres in their productions and I hope they do more adult oriented sci-fi liike their "Logan's Run" show. Until they do "Tom Corbett" is a pleasant way to spend an hour of listening to some good audio theater. Production values are quite good all around as usual for a CRT show and, also typical of CRT, the acting ranges from good to bad. I deduct a star for those reasons and also for some minor pacing problems in the story. Bottom Line: If you enjoy some kid friendly science fiction you will get a kick out of this show. I know I did.
HASH(0x9cfaa0c0) out of 5 stars Won't disappoint fans, great characterization, just the right amount of humor... Feb. 3 2015

This cd was very good, I listened to it twice and liked almost everything about it. I enthusiastically recommend it to anyone who liked the old Tom Corbett Space Cadet TV show or books. The first thing that impressed me was the sound effects. The acting was good, the music appropriate. The story, about a race of robots created a hundred years ago and now returning to attack Earth, won't disappoint fans of the old show or books, and is updated -- with mention of nanobots, for instance. It was long enough to satisfy, with excellent characterization and just the right amount of humor. Very professional production in every way, as good as the old time radio shows -- I've already order the 2nd CD.
