This is the most powerful book besides 'As a Man Thinketh' that I have read and am actively using. I have found a way to take myself out of my thinking head into my heart. On the surface the book occurs as another gimmick to quick answers but in fact it takes you from what you 'think you know' to the wonderful domain of being 'don't know that I don't know', where all possibilities lie. I have the experience of truly knowing how to 'be' an active participant in my life. We are all raised with the notion that life lies in the doing and having, this book challenges you to use your higher source 'love'. The tools work and I am grateful; it has and is giving me access to 'fun and freedom' - we are all truly beautifully designed. Tina Fischer - Life Coach - Vancouver Canada

This book has an unorthodox narrative in that the co-authors, Phil Stutz and Barry Michels, either speak directly to the reader (often referring to the other when doing so) or one speaks on their behalf. This approach works remarkably well, creating an almost three- (or even four-) dimensional effect. In a word, reverberation. The material is carefully organized within eight chapters, of which four (2-5) devoted to the "tools" or pathways that will enable almost anyone to live a much more fulfilling life. They offer what they are convinced is a "new" and much better way to achieve personal growth and professional development.

As Michels explains, "Twenty-five years have passed since Phil and I met. The tools delivered exactly what he said they would: a daily connection to life-changing higher forces. The more I used the tools, the more clearly I felt that these forces came [begin italics] through me [end italics], not [begin italics] from me [end italics] -- they were a gift from somewhere else. They carried an extraordinary power that made it possible to do things I had never done before. Over time, I was able to accept that these new powers were given to me by higher forces. Not only have I experienced these forces for two and a half decades, I've had the privilege of training patients to access them just as consistently.

Outstanding. Your life can change today with simple straightforward well-explained ways of controlling or slightly altering our usual reactions to events. Whether you believe in the idea or not, it will work if you do it. Did I say, Outstanding.

I found that this book is a no nonsense self help book. These guys have found ways to go directly to the problem. Usually you get endless bla bla bla with stories without end but this one is direct and to the point. I love that. Of course I still have some questions and would love to have a conversation with one of the authors about one of my personal problem that is not addressed here but hey if I work with this book like I thick I will do I should find many of my problèmes solved.

The promo material states that "The Tools transcends the typical self-help genre because of its paradigm-changing material, the credibility of its authors, and the instant appeal and empowerment of its message."

Perhaps... this book is better than much of the self-help genre but hardly paradigm-changing to anybody who knows the field of psychotherapy and psychopathology. Rather, this book outlines principles of change one would expect from a self-help book based on treating celebs -- principally based on quick fixes and psychobabble that is aimed at pleasing your customers, i.e., "patients".

While this material has its place, it hardly scratches the surface in many respects. I suggest that individual seeking self-help consider the more useful, if more challenging, books like David Burns tried and true CBT book for depression, "Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy" or more recent more empirically based books such as Aaron Beck and Clarks book "The Anxiety and Worry Workbook".

Finally, for individuals with serious psychological difficulties, I suggest they consult a reputable (trust your instincts too) psychotherapist -- somebody licensed.

Stopped reading at the "higher power" bulls***. No different from "The Secret".
