Wow...where do I begin to tell everyone what a beautiful and wonderful story this is. This book is the sequel to Connected where the main characters River and Dahlia are trying to stay "connected" and figure out how they will not be "torn" apart through circumstances. I am so glad I read this AMAZING story but I don't know whether to be happy or sad....happy because it was such a beautiful story or sad because now it is all over. Oh how I just LOVED, LOVED this book. Kim created such a life like story that through her exceptional writing you really felt all the emotions in this story....happiness, sadness, guilt, jealousy, betrayal, trust but most of all you felt the LOVE!!! The characters have become so real that they became part of our lives in a way. Kim, you mentioned in your acknowledgements at the end of the book that you 'hope you have succeeded in telling a story that was brought to life through both words and music'. Well you have done that and much more!!!...your music selection was brilliant and truly enhanced the story. I am so glad I stumbled on this book and I can't wait to read more by Kim. This is definitely a must read and I would give it more then five stars if I could. Thanks again Kim for giving me the joy of reading through your wonderful books. Thank you, thank you and Grazie Kim....you should be very proud as I know many, many readers are!!!! <3

TORN is the second installment in Kim Karr’s contemporary new adult Connections series. Torn continues River and Dahlia’s story from Connected and proceeds to take the reader on a roller coaster ride of issues with trust, betrayal, love and walking away. When Dahlia’s past returns, it wants nothing more than to start back up where it ended six years earlier. The emotional and psychological fall out from a history of heart breaking secrets is enough to send anyone over the edge and in this, Dahlia and River’s relationship seems to bear the brunt of the anger, pain and well-meaning friends.

Kim Karr pulls the reader into an emotional abyss where everything and everyone is sucked into the darkness that is made up of lies and betrayal. And at every opportunity, when the stars begin to align themselves together, something or someone dares to make Dahlia and River’s tenuous hold on their relationship fracture and break. But we must also give credit where it is due, when our heroine continues to get pulled under when the past keeps calling her back. She is one woman whose head continues to be buried in the sand as it pertains to the people she once loved and knew. Dahlia placed herself in situations knowing that in the end, nothing good would come of it.

The premise focuses on Dahlia and River’s relationship as the past and current secrets continues to threaten their love and trust. And in time, everything and everyone is perceived as a threat to their relationship-whether intentional or not.

This is also a story of letting go. When sorrow and grief pull you under, there comes a time when everyone must resurface or find themselves perpetually at the bottom of an endless well of tears and pain.
