Product Description

Size name:12 oz

Product Description

Triple expanding sealant is an interior/exterior insulating product that stops household air infiltration by expanding to fill cracks where standard insulation is ineffective. Made with renewable resources it creates an airtight weather resistant bond that seals out drafts and blocks insect and pest intrusion. Expands approximately 3 times its original volume. Foam can be dispensed at any angle; however, upside down dispensing is the most efficient means of delivery. Fill gap no more than 1/3 full allowing room for expansion. Foam is tack free in 30 minutes. Excess foam can be trimmed, sanded, caulked, or plastered in 1 hour. Dispense by connecting straw to adapter. Can may be restarted for up to 3 weeks. UL classified.

From the Manufacturer

In the familiar green can, this is the original Touch ’n Foam sealant formulated to fill larger gaps and voids all around the home. This super-expanding foam creates an airtight, weather-resistant bond that seals out drafts.

HASH(0x9f187fcc) out of 5 stars Brown liquid May 21 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on

I had the same problem some other reviewers did with the foam turning back into a brown liquid after application. Here's what customer service said:

"...all one-component polyurethane foams, like MaxFill, require both air and moisture to cure properly. This is why one-component foams, like MaxFill, don't work very well in enclosed spaces. When you inject foam into a void, only the foam closest to the injection points will have enough air and moisture to cure properly. The rest of the foam, as you unfortunately discovered, will breakdown into a liquid and make a mess.

In order to make it set-up within an enclosed space, you must either: 1) make the space no longer enclosed by opening it up so all of the foam would have access to air and moisture OR 2) apply the foam in layers, though in an enclosed space, this is also very difficult.

We don't normally recommend injecting foam into enclosed spaces, though if you must, we recommend using a TWO-component foam. Unlike one-component foams, like MaxFill, two-component foams will harden due to the chemical reaction taking place and requires neither air nor moisture. However, the common problem with 2-component foam is that it tends to have a much higher expansion rate. This means you must be very careful when injecting the foam into an enclosed space, so as not to over fill. During the expansion process, the foam does not necessarily follow the path of least resistance and will expand in all directions at the same time. This means that if too much foam is accidentally injected, and it continues to expand, it could end up doing damage. In walls, this could lead to broken drywall; with your cooler, it could split open the top."

HASH(0x9f1ca234) out of 5 stars excellent product Oct. 29 2008

I had my mom mail this to me in Iraq. I sealed the walls, window, and door frame of an old building that would become my sleeping area for a year. I regard it as a miracle product. It even sealed the large 1" gaps that spiders, ants, mice, lizzards, and scorpions would crawl through. I used 2 cans to do my room. I had a third can and nearly caused a riot when I offered it up to my neighbors. Just wear gloves like it says to. I didnt at first thinking "I know how to use an aerosol can". One of the cracks wasn't as deep as I thought and I tried to guide the overflow with my finger. My hand was "adhesive" for a couple days. I'd highly recommend this product.

HASH(0x9f1ca474) out of 5 stars Seals the holes! June 1 2012

After reading the reviews on this stuff I was hesitant to buy. This is of course a sticky product, as are most products of this type due to the chemical composition. As per the directions I wore gloves, unlike most of the other reviewers it seems. I did drip some of this stuff, but if you have a throw away towel handy to catch the drips you should be fine. Also, nail polish remover gets this stuff off of whatever you drip it on as long as you are quick-acting. I wouldn't use it if a "finished" look is desired, as this stuff is an eyesore, but it serves its purpose. This is especially helpful under sinks to seal wall cut-outs for piping. It dries to a hard material and expands about 2-3 times its original application size. I would suggest testing it first outside before starting use to get comfortable with the consistency of the material and how it is released from the can. Overall a good product for its intended use.

HASH(0x9f1ca618) out of 5 stars Au Contraire !!! Works GREAT !!!! Dec 15 2012

I don't know what these people who reviewed this product badly were doing - maybe eating and watching TV or on their cells or applying it with the can upright, as opposed to INVERTED, as directions say - but this product works EXTREMELY well. Not only goes a long way, but expands 3fold so don't use too much. Trim with an X-acto or utility knife AFTER hardening(24 hours). Also, it has an incredibly long shelf life(1 year for me). No need to shake. Just invert and pretend you're using Reddy-Whip on a sundae! Very good idea to use rubber gloves. Why? Because it STICKS!!!! REALLY sticks! Can almost use in place of mortar for dry-laying bricks.

HASH(0x9f1ca9e4) out of 5 stars Reasonably priced, does the job July 15 2013

This product dries fast and hard, which is what I needed for my little job. It is somewhat messy (they all are), but it dispenses at a rate which is manageable, so the stuff doesn't go flying all over the place. It comes with a 5-inch tube and lever-controlled release valve which makes it convenient to use. When the job is finished, the tube doubles back on itself and fits onto a small protrusion on the top of the valve for storage. I have not tried to use it again, so I don't know if this idea actually works. Here is a little side comment--I used this same kind of expandable foam several years ago to fill in the space underneath a fiberglass shower stall which "gave" when you stood in the shower. The foam expanded, dried hard, and made the floor of the shower solid, and no doubt prevented cracks from developing due to the flexing of the floor.
