While I found this game to be extremely fun with all the elements required for a busy tycoon/building type game, I discovered it has one fatal glitch that does not have a patch to fix. Once your island population gets over the 500 mark and if you are playing at a higher speed, the game becomes choppy. But the FATAL glitch is that after you save a game where your population is over 500, when you try and load a game the next time you play, your XBOX will just freeze up and get stuck on the load screen. Apparantly this doesn't happen to all XBOX's, but it does happen to some and there is no fix for it. (Doesn't permanently freeze XBOX. Once you turn off it will start up again. But will not load Tropico 4). IF the developer comes out with a fix for this problem, I would give the game a 5 Star rating.

Amazing game. Hours of fun. After you think you can put it down, and you're done with it, you pick it right back up and shove the mother right back into the system.

HASH(0x9f726924) out of 5 stars Great game...until you try to load a save April 7 2013

This is a great game with a huge level of detail and what should be HOURS of playability. The problem arises when you attempt to load a save when your population is over 300 or so residents on the island. The game will hang on the load screen every time. The developer is well aware of this issue and has done nothing to address it. Check out the developer's forum on their website and you'll see that they acknowledge the issue...and blame it on the limitations of the XBOX itself.

This is insane. Elder Scrolls Skyrim is a vastly more complicated and involved game and it runs without an issue. The problem is not with the XBOX, the problem is their buggy code which they have steadfastly refused to fix. This is a real shame because it is a fun game as long as you never have to try to save your place...because you'll lose all of the progress you've made.

HASH(0x9f71de40) out of 5 stars The best city simulation and the only dictator sim out there! Dec 13 2012

I think this is easily the most fun city builder. I love playing as El Presidente and customizing my avatar based on a tongue-in-cheek backstory that determines my strengths and weaknesses. Who hasn't wanted to be an iron fisted ruler or dictator on some small banana republic? My favorite part is that besides trying to stay in power and improve my offshore bank account, I can choose to be downright evil or I can actually listen to the people and try to keep them happy and flourish as a nation, tourist destination, export powerhouse, etc. I'm thrilled that this version of the game is available on Xbox 360, which I just play a lot more than games on my PC these days. I wish the DLCs that are available had been included, but for the money ($30) I think getting both Tropico 4 and Tropico 4: Modern Times in one package is more than worth it. If you love city sims, games like Sim City, and even ones like Evil Genius or Dungeon Keeper, you should definitely give this version of the Tropico series a try.

HASH(0x9f723cf0) out of 5 stars Who needs Sim City when you've got Tropico! Dec 14 2012

This is the best game in the Tropico series of city building games, and adding the modern times expansion makes it even better. Rather than just have you play the role of some unseen entity that builds a city, then sits around wondering what to do next, you play as a real character - El Presidente, who's trying to balance making a powerful nation and building up your private bank account. The game constantly feeds you challenges, which keep you playing, rather than staring at the screen wondering when a road will get built. Modern Times adds a James Bond villain sort of campaign to the whole pack, which makes it worth buying.

HASH(0x9f726984) out of 5 stars Tropico 4 Gold March 22 2013

Tropico 4 is a neat city building game. It is more similar to Zeus than the clunky Sim City. You get to rule a tropical island, complete with various farm types, like papaya, pineapple and sugar, industries like rum factory or canning, resources such as iron, oil and gold, and even a military. Housing is also important, as well as infrastructure such as teamster delivery, medical, and power. Events keep the game moving.

However, the x360 can get taxed and some games have too much going on. That is when the xbox crashes. I only had this happen once when I played a 50 year sandbox game. The final year did not go well.

Overall, Tropico 4 is fun. There are two campaigns, taking the player to new islands with different resources. Tropico 4 Gold can provide many hours of fun.
