It doesn't get more basic than this. The only enhancements to this garlic press since this model was introduced, is the silicone grip handles and cleaning tool (when you close the press backwards). Nothing fancy but does the trick!

I've tried a number of garlic presses and this is the best I have found. It works very well and is easy to clean. It is robustly built and I expect I will not have to buy another as it will last "forever". Trudeau, in general, makes great stuff.

This was an excellent garlic press—the best I have ever owned—primarily because the two parts between which the garlic is crushed fit together so well. It is weighty and relatively sturdy, although having said that, my last one broke at the hinge when I tried to crush ginger with it. I'm ordering two and will be more careful next time. It's true that water from the dishwasher can get trapped in the press, but this is easily avoidable. There are two places this can happen: inside the handles beneath the rubber grips, and behind the plastic part for cleaning the crusher. The former is seldom a problem, and the latter can be avoided by removing the plastic component (I'm refering to the part with the protruding studs for removing garlic from the holes). It can be pried off with the back of a knife, or by hand, before placing the crusher in the dishwasher. Once this is done, it will be obvious how to position the crusher so that water does not collect. Replace it loosely, or leave it permanently detached. As far as tarnishing is concerned, the metal is chrome plated and it's hard to see how this could happen. My original crusher did not tarnish at all after 5 years of use and many washes.

I bought this garlic press as a replacement for another garlic press that broke. Unfortunately, I am going to be replacing this one too. I've had it for a couple months and the chrome plating is chipping off. The area under the plastic-nubbed bits fills with water when you wash it and then it trickles out. I also find that the press and the bit with holes don't fit exactly together and the extra space makes it so only half the garlic clove makes it through and the rest is just squished, leading me to push it into a pile to be pressed again.

Great garlic press... our last one broke so we had to buy this one again, we wouldn't settle for a different kind.

Heavy and high quality, It was better than I expected. Very easy to clean and easy to press garlic.
Does not leave that much of garlic leftover.
I guess this is a must for every kitchen.
For the quality, I don't see any reason to buy a more expensive garlic press.
Buy it, then thank me later

I don't care much for this garlic press, it flattens out the garlic and you have to keep picking it and bunching it down and re-pressing. I do like the "self cleaning" feature that pokes out the garlic from the other side, but I wish it didn't need it so often...

I bought this based on a recommendation from America's Test Kitchen on Youtube. It works well and it's easy to clean. The first one I got was damaged as some of the little plastic nubs were crushed but Amazon exchanged it and the new one is great.
