HASH(0x9a258660) out of 5 stars Pollyanna , TSTL Angst April 6 2016
By Ashley Rowell - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
1. Angsty 'i love you, i love you not' galore between old enemies that aren't really enemies but are instead two people incapable of communication, trust & honesty.

2. Entirely too many half-done or pure fluff secondary plots; 100 pages could easily be omited vs dragging the story all over th place w/ a wedding , cancer, relationship abuse w/ secondary character, etc.

3. TSTL FMC who unbelievably does thing like text someone she barely knows all her secrets… an entire plot line that even the most novice reader could see directly through.

4. MMC has absolutely no reason not to be upfront (the issue he had in HS doesnt apply now)… So why skirt around what he wants and needs to say?

5. So romance is letting the one you love walk away because you refuse to NOT Be the shoulder your ex (who also happens to be the person who bullied the woman you love) cries on. He picked a friendship w an ex biwitch over the FMC. Not my idea of love !!

6. The FMC instantly forgives and becomes Bff the villen here after a supposed apology where her tormenter only apologizes because nd for hurting the MMC. An absolute joke of an end!!

HASH(0xa19c8b70) out of 5 stars Want more of Ashton King!!! Oct. 27 2015

ARC received in exchange for an honest spoil free review.
This is the first book that I've read from this author and I am already looking forward to the next.
Author Aimee McNeil's Truth or Dare is a well written story about a young woman's discovery and path to true love.
How does one believe in such a thing when throughout their childhood they've only witnessed the heartache left in love's wake? This is the question that Sophie Rogers must ask herself when Ashton King, a boy she had once given her heart to, waltzes back into her life.
Can she learn to leave her past behind her and see where things go with Ashton? Or will his relationship with the girl who made her life a living hell stand in the way. Can their love prevail, if it is love that seems to always pull them together?
I love this story. The characters were very believable and although I normally prefer multiple POVs, I felt connected to Ashton, despite the fact that it was told in Sophie's POV. Congrats Ms. McNeil on a wonderful release. I look forward to more from you.

3.5 stars!

Offered an ARC for an honest review.

This is my first book by this lovely author and I can say that I fairly enjoyed it.

After years of being tormented, Sophie is finally at peace. With going to college and working hard toward her art degree. Things are finally how they should be. That is until one of her tormentors saunters into her art class as one of the nude models she has to paint. Memories of how awful her high school years comes to mind, she barely focuses on her assignment.

Ashton King! Where to start with him. I have to say he was my favorite. I wish I got a glimpse into that gorgeous head of his and find out all his wants & needs. Gah!!!

He plays a major part most of the time Sophie gets tormented in high school. And it makes me sad that this poor girl didn’t stand a chance the moment she started at a new school. But she took the torture with her head held high.

After spending some time together, Sophie finds herself questioning if she ever hated Ashton to begin with. A game of truth or dare lets them open up and express what they truly feel for one another.

It was a cute, quick read. The reason why I’m giving it a 3.5 is because some of the interacts that Sophie and Ashton had seemed a bit immature for their 21 years of age. At times I felt like they were still in high school and I had to keep reminding myself that they were a couple years older.

This won’t be my last read from this author. I’m looking forward to reading more of her upcoming work.

Be sure to follow her on all social media platforms.

Have you ever read a book that you just couldn’t put down, no matter how many times you try? No matter what else you might have to do? I read Truth or Dare by Aimee McNeil and this happened to me. I could not put it down. I was reading it during work yesterday, I read it at the emergency room with my daughter last night, and late into the night until I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore. And since it wasn’t done, I read it this morning during work until it was done. And when I was done reading, I wanted more. I message Aimee on Facebook begging her to tell me that there was more to come. I wasn’t ready for the story between Ashton and Sophie to be over. I was also looking forward to more of the stories from Sophie’s best friend Mel.

Doesn’t this just sound like it is amazing? I can tell you for a fact that it is. I loved the dynamic between Sophie and Ashton. I love how she kept trying to deny that she cared about him, even though she couldn’t stay away from him. Even after he deceived her trying to get close to her, she wasn’t able to stay mad at him. Even the drama that was thrown in the book seemed realistic and well written. And can I just say that we all need a friend like Mel! That chick is sassy, bold, and helps bring Sophie into herself and out of her comfort zone. She balances Sophie’s safe and guarded personality. Ashton brings out the fighter and the spice in Sophie, and makes her want to push herself to be bolder, both with alcohol and without. Ashton is just trying to get Sophie to believe in him and in love.

HASH(0x9a3d6948) out of 5 stars What would you dare for the truth? Nov. 12 2015
By LJ Nelson - Published on Amazon.com

I was really intrigued by the synopsis of this book and couldn’t wait to read it and I was not disappointed. As someone who was bullied in high school I understand the impact this can have on a person’s psyche.

Can your greatest nemesis really be the love of your life?

Determined to leave the trauma of her high school years behind her; Sophie is focussed on completing her art degree and securing her future. Working two jobs to fund her way through school ‘fate’ throws Ashton King back in her path. Ashton & his girlfriend Lucinda were the golden couple of her high school year and the perpetrators of her misery. Were things really as black and white back then as Sophie believed?

As their lives become intertwined Sophie begins to see another side to Ashton and feelings she has tried to suppress become harder to deny. Yet Sophie doesn’t believe in the notion of love:

“Love is only a dirty trick played on us to achieve continuation of the species.”

Truths and feelings are revealed through a game of Truth or Dare and you could really feel the sexual chemistry between Sophie and Ashton. Ashton tests what she believes to be true and I really felt for him as he spills his regrets for his past actions. As their relationship develops Sophie’s walls start to come down and her heart begins to hear the song of its mate. I loved this definition of being in love:

“It’s like…hearing the most amazing song you have ever heard and no matter how much time passes or how many other songs you hear it’s the only one you want to listen to, sing to, dance to. No other song makes you feel the same. It is the rhythm of your heart from the moment you hear it.”

I really wanted to shake some sense into Sophie at points in the book, but she redeemed herself by the end. It is by no means plain sailing for these two!

The secondary characters really added depth to story and I REALLY want Mel to get her own book. I loved this sassy, opinionated best friend who said what everyone else was thinking!

I’d highly recommend this angsty, sweet and steamy contemporary romance.
