Product Description

I lived in the dark for three years. My whole world revolved around the whims and happiness of three men. It was just a trip into the forbidden. A way out of a bad situation and forward into nothingness.

Quin, with his easy smile and charming good looks. He was always there for me... Until he wasn't.

Smith, and his dispassionate attention. He was never there for me and he never regretted it.

Bric, the one who listened, but only to himself. Self-absorbed, self-obsessed, and self-serving. He was never the one I wanted.

And now he might be the only one I have left.

It was good while it lasted, I guess. But it could've been so much more. It could've been so much better.

And that's why I'm turning back.

Book two in the Turning Back series and boy did I love this book. Great writing as usual by Julie Huss who's imagination is endless and intriguing and this book has all the angst and eroticism that the first book did only better.

This follows straight on from book one when Rochelle has left the game leaving Bric and Quinn devastated and broken, especially Quinn. Smith has now decided to exit the group so that leaves two hot sexy males left to play the game and what a game they play.
A year passes by without Rochelle, a year for Quinn to grieve his loss. He's brooding, angry, worried for her and her whereabouts, so when an opportunity is presented to her by an unexpected source Rochelle decides to return to the game and to the men she left behind much to Quinn's anger. He is hurt and disappointed she decided to leave without even telling him and he is finding it really hard to forgive, whereas Bric - well what a pleasant suprise I had reading his character in this book, he invaded my heart, I swooned over him and got lost in his personality change - yep I really digged Bric in this book !!!

So now after much debating, rows, makeup's and questions asked but still so many to be answered, we have two men and one woman back playing the game - or are they ?
So many secrets, so much hurts and anger simmering just waiting to come to the boil; this book will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole way through.

Oh wow...this book has made me speechless. Anyone who knows me would confirm that this is an impossible feat. Lol
Book two in this series was kind of like a second chance story. One that has the characters coming back to each other after one took off, breaking up the really great thing they all had going on (minus one, but that's okay because he has a different really good thing going on now).
I don't want to write a review with any spoilers for those who haven't read the first book yet.
What I do need to say is that book one was awesome. Book two was even better. My prediction for book three in the future...outstanding!
If you have never read a J A Huss book before, you are in for a treat with this series. She keeps true to her writing style and offers her readers an amazing journey. I have yet to read one of her books that I couldn't put down after starting.
If you've read some of her work before, then you know the rollercoaster ride of thrills and plot twists you will embark on with each turned page.
If you are on the hunt for a great series to start, don't pass this one up. It's full of sizzle, charm, brilliance and characters you love to hate yet hate to love. What more could you ask for?

5.0 out of 5 stars A second chance to play the game again! April 12 2017
By Wendy LeGrand - Published on

The journey continues in the Turning series with Turning Back, book 2 of this three book series. In the first book, we learned that the woman that had been playing the game with Quin, Bric and Smith was suddenly gone and left another woman in her place. Rochelle just disappeared without any explanation to the guys. That was one of the rules of their game. If she wanted out, she could leave at any time. But to do it without telling them why, after three years of playing the game? Not cool, Rochelle, not cool. So the guys played the game with the new woman, Chella, and it was great, until she and Smith fell in love and left the game.

So that left just Bric and Quin, and Quin has been a shell of himself ever since Rochelle left because he's in love with her. And her sudden departure pretty much gutted him. Then, suddenly Rochelle is back. And as happy as Quin is to see her, he's mad and hurt and doesn't trust her. How could she just leave him the way she did? We get the answers to those questions, but in classic Julie style, the answers are interwoven throughout the book and revealed little by little through scenes and conversations held between not just Quin and Rochelle, but the other characters too, and we see the puzzle pieces slowly falling into place.

Julie delves really deep into the character development of Quin, Bric and Rochelle in this book. I already loved Quin from book 1 because of his easygoing and lovable personality, but Bric was pretty much an enigma. I could never get a grasp on his true personality or what his motives were. That becomes pretty clear in this book. There were plenty of moments where I loved Bric to death, and others where I just wanted to choke him for the games he played. And no, I don't mean "that game" I mean other games he played to manipulate situations to get the end results he wanted.

Getting back to "that game" Bric manages to talk both Rochelle and Quin into starting a new game. But obviously it's a very different game because now it's just two guys and the girl, so is that just a ménage a trois? Will the same rules work that were used in the previous game? Things are starting to get confusing, lines are getting crossed, emotions are high, and there aren't even supposed to be any emotions involved, because this is just a game, right?

The sex, oh the sex. I have no clue how Julie manages to keep writing sex scenes that are just as hot and exciting as the first time I read one of hers, but she does. Holy wow can she write a sex scene! I think the scenes in this book were even hotter than the first because there aren't as many players involved, and they felt way more intimate. And I guess they would be, since Quin and Bric have been playing the game for more than a decade. They know each other inside and out, they know exactly the moves to make and how to feed off each other in each scene. And they aren't afraid to cross the lines, to touch each other in the ways they know will drive each other mad with lust, the ways that will make the game the hottest it can be. And holy crap, hot it was!! Damn...just damn...

What I love about each and every book that Julie writes, is she weaves some of the most intricate and convoluted stories. She lays the groundwork, drops hints all throughout the story that makes me start guessing as to what is going on, and then by the time the books ends, I haven't guessed anything correctly and I'm left with the WTF look on my face, saying, "I wasn't expecting THAT to happen" or "whoa, did she really go there?" She definitely loves to mess with our heads all the way through each book.

So even though Smith is out of the "game" he's still an integral part of the team, and his scenes in the book were some of my absolute favorite. I had no clue this dude could be so damn funny! Talk about someone doing a complete 360 from how we saw him in the first book. Chella has obviously had a huge impact on this guy's life! I still sit back and chuckle at some of his antics and the things that came out of his mouth a week after finishing the book!! But as funny as he came across in this book, he made it very clear that he is still very invested in his two friends' lives and has their backs no matter what.

Book 3 is going to be very interesting. It's going to hard to wait for the conclusion to this series!

5.0 out of 5 stars HOT HOT HOT!!! 5 HOT STARS!! April 18 2017

Holy hotness… Turning Back by JA Huss just burned up my kindle and now I’m left waiting patiently…sort of…for Bric’s book!!! Holy smokes this was a hot book!! JA Huss just knows how to write a hot and sexy M/F/M book! This was the middle book in a series and sometimes this book is the linking book between the beginning and the end and I didn’t feel that was this was a filler book. This was a love story between Quin, Rochelle, and Bric that is like no other story I’ve read and WOWZA I cannot wait for My Turn!! I’m so thinking I want a turn!!! Where can I sign up?? I do love this series and was happy to see Rochelle’s return. If you’ve not read the first book in the series, STOP and go read it!!! While I try to make my review’s spoiler free I don’t want to accidentally ruin anything for you.

Rochelle left the game without warning to the players. Quin was especially hurt by this as he was actually falling for her. Falling in love with not part of the game. It wasn’t supposed to be part of the equation. So when things got messy Rochelle left than having to deal with the fallout. But what nobody anticipated was the secret she held on to and only told a select few. She left town never expecting to be back.

Months and months go by and Quin is miserable. They have a new game to play with Chella but he’s just not interested. When Bric sees what’s happening to his friend he’s determined to find out what happened to Rochelle and convince her to come back.

What happens when Rochelle does return? Will Quin be able to forgive her? The secret she’s been holding on for so many months will be out and how will the effect everyone? Can she continue in the game with now that so many things have changed? She has deep feelings for Quin and will she be ready to open herself back up? And Bric… how does he fit into the equation. Can the two men have her both? The game is about to change and nobody expected this game changer!! Turning Back is one HOT read you cannot miss! JA Huss does it again! Another amazing 5 star read!!

5.0 out of 5 stars When J. A Huss writes a book the reader knows they are going to get a lot more than steamy, red hot sex scenes. April 17 2017
By shellbelle - Published on

Turning Back by J. A. Huss is more than an erotic ménage novel. It’s a novel that contains many different things that lead the characters to emotional self-discoveries, self worth, healthy relationships, and romance. Yes, a happily ever after filled with love and romance. First the game has to be played until the very end and each player has to make moves as a team as well as an individual player. The stakes are high and hearts are on the line. Love is the grand prize.

Before opening this novel, it is imperative to read the first novel, Taking Turns. This book is the next level of the game that is already in play.

The Game is back on even though the rules and the players have changed. Rochelle has returned after disappearing without a trace for over a year. Even though she had one brief contact with one of the players after she disappeared, her reasons for leaving are not what the other players assume were her motivations. She’s back in town and the game is on. This time there is more at stake than sexual gratification where everyone wins until the game no longer satisfies their needs. This time she is putting her life on the line, she’s surrendering her heart, and she’s playing for keeps. She wants to rectify her mistakes and make a permanent life. But the rules have changed, she no longer has only herself to worry about. One of the players has left the game but is still very much in control of the outcome. One of the other players has changed his spots so to speak and is showing a more personable and human side he’s hidden away. The final player, the one she wants heart and soul, has also changed the rules. He is no longer the same easy going , fun loving man she fell in love with. He’s an angry man bent on revenge and punishment, all in the name of the game. She is dealing with a game of control and sexual fulfillment, she is in a dangerous game being ruled by emotions, fears, and extreme matters of the heart. A game she’s willing to surrender to in order to win the heart of the man she loves. She will stoop low and change her standards. She will do anything for his love.

J.A. Huss brought the Turning series to another level. In the first book, Taking Turns, the readers were introduced to the game and the players. We were given a clear understanding of how the game works but not the whys as how the game was created in the first place. We were introduced to all the players but really only got to know one of those players intimately. In the second book, Turning Back, not only does the reader get the answers to the whys of it all, the reader also gets to know the other two players of the game. We also get acquainted with the fourth original player, the woman who is the key player, the player who determines the outcome of this new game. J. A. Huss gives the reader an in depth look into the psyche of each of the players while allowing them to change and evolve as the game progresses. The game becomes an emotional rollercoaster with unexpected dips and turns She made readers sympathetic with each of the men, wanting each of them to win the game.

I don’t read very many ménage romances any more. I got tired of reading the same type of story where the sex propelled the plot. When J. A Huss writes a book the reader knows they are going to get a lot more than steamy, red hot sex scenes. We know J. A. Huss digs deep, weaves an unpredictable tail, delivers quite a few surprises and mind blowers, while keeping the readers satisfied with a true romance. This series has been quite consuming and I can’t wait to see what happens next in the game. His Turn is coming soon.

3.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing, but not as full of feels as I'd expected April 17 2017

Turning Back was so filled with intrigue it was difficult to see which way was up and which way was down.

Main feels for the beginning of Turning Back was kind of removed. I didn’t feel any of the characters, and even their smexy scenes seemed a little clinical to me. I didn’t really feel the hotness as I’d expected, and Bric acted like such an arse I wanted to skim his chapters, to tell you the truth.

The story in Turning Back is well written, and the theme of second chance is one I absolutely love. It took a while for me to think that Rochelle actually deserved a second chance, though. Because the way she left Quin behind was just mean. And Bric contributed to that – both because he had never told Quin about Rochelle’s phone call, and because he kept some other things from Quin. To further his own agenda. As usual.

My favorite character in Turning Back was Kitty – Quin’s mom. She was made of amazing, and she took no prisoners. Written in thriple point of view, with Quin, Bric and Rochelle each having their own chapters, I did get to understand their inner workings and motivations quite well. And towards the end, something completely clicked, and I fell for the characters and felt the feels I had been missing at the beginning.

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZABALLS!!!!!!!! April 12 2017

Words can not even do justice to what I have just experienced reading this book!
Every time I write a review for a JA Huss book I am pretty sure it goes like this:
Soooo just to be clear...this review will be no Julie is a effing genius!!!!!!!!
I mean...the way she tells a mother-f-ing story should be illegal....but not really cuz I need to read all her words...for life!!!
Le siggghhh I knew Quin's story was gonna get me...well it got me good...Quin is probably as close to perfect as perfect could get, but he just couldn't recognize that in himself, but it's what others's what Rochelle seen. It's what Chella seen as well. Most importantly its what Bric seen.
The dynamic between the three of them was like none other...the trust, the caring, the LOVE, it was easy for they were all built to be that way...until they weren't.
I promise you will love this story as much as the first one if not more...I know the next story will be amazaballs as well.
