Product Description

One year ago, I became a missing person. I left everything behind—family, friends, school. It seemed like a good idea at the time. My only option, really, until I realized running from a police officer isn’t as easy as I thought it would be.

It’s been exactly three-hundred and sixty-five days since I left home, but I’m finally ready to take the step I should have taken a year ago. I’m done hiding. I’m done running. I’m going to take my life back.

It was supposed to be easy. A meeting with Jason Pierce, a private investigator, was set up for me. All I had to do was go to him, let him do his thing, and then I could go home, or so I thought.

That is, until I met Jason and things got … complicated.

What a great story!! I thoroughly enjoyed it! So much so in fact that I started it AND finished it all in ONE DAY! Even thought it was different than what I was expecting – a paranormal story (that is how I found Ashley in the first place!) – I was completely captivated by it. It is almost a “sleeper” kind of story meaning that even though there is a LOT going on, at the same time there isn’t. It is a sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat-while-relaxing type of awesome read! You will just have to read the book to understand what I mean. I don’t want to give too much away and ruin the magic of this story! I have read books that are told in the first person, second person, third person and every combination in between. Some of them work, but a lot of them are very confusing. That is NOT the case with Two Truths and a Lie! In fact, Ashley does a fantastic job telling the story from both Elena & Jason’s point of views! I am convinced that this is one of the main reasons that this was such an engrossing story. I was actually surprised, even though I shouldn’t have been, but I was, with just how quickly I was sucked into the story! I love how you know enough to follow the story, but not too much too overload you or even ruin the magic of the story, and the hints are done so well that they keep you reading to find out the whole story – Elena’s, Jason’s AND the rest of the book! So many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming! But of course, if I did then it wouldn’t have been such a great book! LOL I was SHOCKED when I found out just WHY Elena ran in the first place! I loved how even though Elena is done running, she is still so scared and doesn’t know who to trust. She doesn’t fall easily into the trust either and makes everyone work hard to earn and KEEP that trust!Read more ›

I have been given an ARC copy by the author for an honest review.

5 AMAZING STARS. This book is seriously amazing. Everyone who knows me or follows me here, twitter or FB, just knows that I am a huge fan of Ashley’s books. And she didn’t disappoint me. No shock here. With every single book she is just getting better and better. I loved Soul’s Mark series, I adored and was fangirling over Aidan from Deadly Pack Trilogy, but let me tell you that: they were good, but this? This is PERFECTION for me. She hit the right spots for me.

My Thoughts:

In the story we meet Elena Reed. A girl, who suddenly decides to run away from home and was hiding for a year. On her 21st Birthday she decides to get help in claiming her life back. She wants to go home and she wants to stop running. So she sits in a shady bar waiting for her helper. And there she meets Jason Pierce. Handsome, confident and quick with snarky comments private investigator. But as always not everything is going according to plan. He thinks she is looking for fun, she calls him names, she runs, he chases her. Yep. Loved those scenes.

I liked Elena from the first page. She was shy, nervous and so scared, but from the beginning you can observe how she is maturing and becoming strong, confident and stubborn woman. My heart broke when she finally told her story. At the beginning I was sure she was a witness of a murder, but noooo…Ashley had to do something more heart clenching! And she did it amazingly.

Jason….oh my Jason….he is handsome, confident and sweet. He is a private investigator together with his friends, Wes and Vance, who are just as funny as he is.

Two Truths and a Lie is a very entertaining, quick read. I didn't really know what to expect from this book, and while it wasn't quite what I was hoping for, it was a pretty satisfying story.

In the fine tradition of New Adult books, Truths is narrated by both Elena and Jason, the two main characters of the story. The blurb is Elena's perspective, but much of the book comes from Jason as well, which I think was necessary. Not only does it make very clear what his viewpoint is, but it also helps fill in some of the details of the investigation that unites Jason and Elena.

While Truths wrestles with some deep issues, it does so through the buffer of talking about past events and transgressions instead of showing them to the reader.

I found Jason to be a bit typical for the genre. I appreciated his protectiveness, his desire to help, and the fact that he didn't tiptoe around his own feelings. But. The whole "I need to have sex with her to claim her as mine" thing had me rolling my eyes. I also thought his alpha routine should have freaked Elena out a bit. She's been through a lot and having this guy trying to dictate to her really made me want her to pack up and run.

The pacing for the book is very fast. As much as there's lots of brooding and fretting and though Jason and Elena don't really have a hands-on role in the investigation, there was enough to keep me entertained and flipping pages as quickly as I could. Truths may have been a bit predictable, but there were some moments that stood out for me, and I enjoyed reading it.

Bottom line:

Two Truths and a Lie is a great choice for a quick afternoon read. It's got angst and intensity, a sympathetic heroine and a possessive hero.

Almost to the point that you wondered if this was in fact a fiction novel or not! It is, by the way!  I cannot wait to read more in this series and see where Ashley is going to take them while still keeping them fresh and exciting! Based on this book, I am thoroughly convinced that they will exactly be just that!!

I just love that he has that protectiveness and possessiveness over Elena (I am 100% sure Ashley meant to call the main character Ewelina, but there must be a typo like in the whole book :P ). He knows what he wants and once he wants it, he is going after it. But what I love the most about him? He has his own problems. He is not perfect and untouched by world ugliness. Both are not. And that’s why this book is so amazing.

This book made me smile, laugh, pant and cry a bit. It’s not ugly crier, but sometimes you don’t need death or sickness to cry.

And oh. Best scene? Wes. Elena. Hotel room, Taser. Jason. – crying from laughter, barely breathing because of that. Snorting, while laughing. Yeah. Love that Scene! :D

HASH(0x9eaa0558) out of 5 stars Hopeful. Beautiful. Interesting. I LOVE THIS! May 20 2015
By Revenge of the Feels - Published on Amazon.com

Hopeful. Beautiful. Interesting.

These are the three words that I would use, to describe Two Truths and a Lie.

Elena is a victim, from the way she acts and talks, scared, timid at any sounds or unfamiliar surroundings. Yet, she finally took a stand to stop running. Throughout the story, I was hopeful that Elena would grow stronger…and she did!

Beautiful. Everything was beautiful in the story. From the time Elena decides to stop running, the first time she felt safe, and the first time she had hope, everything was just too beautiful!

I must say, Elena Reed and Jason Pierce are such interesting characters! I like how Jason always calls Elena ‘darlin’, and how Elena would always blush in response to that! They are so cute!

The thing about Two Truths and a Lie is that, not only Elena and Jason are pretty well-developed characters, but so are the other characters! Peck for one, is an obsessed sociopath where only Elena sees the real him. I almost feel pity for how desperate he is to get Elena.

(Almost. That all changed when he did something that pissed me off!)

Other characters includes Jason’s team and his parents. Jason’s team made me laugh so much! I couldn’t even stop reading this book partly because of them!

Jason’s parents were quite the mystery. At first, I don’t really understand how his mom could feel this way towards his dad after everything his dad did. When I was done reading, perhaps I could understand slightly, but I’m still feeling…confused? Weird?

Anyway, this is a must read for you romance readers out there! Recommended for readers who would love to see how a woman break free of her past and grows stronger, with the help of unexpected love!

*Thank you to the author for providing me with an eARC in exchange for a honest review.

HASH(0x9eaa0918) out of 5 stars AMAZING READ! March 2 2015

This story is AMAZING! It's another FB find for me - I don't know the author, just saw a little snippet of a blurb from one of the blogs I follow & I was intrigued enough to check it out. SO GLAD I DID! : )

Elena has been on the run for a year, and of course she's tired of it. She happens upon someone who knows of a PI who can help her. She takes a chance & meets Jason, Wes, and Vance. At first, Jason is a TOTAL jerk, but it's only because he thinks Elena is messing with him. Once he figures out that she isn't, that she's really there because she needs his help, his Alpha-protective side comes out & he works his butt off to A) earn her trust & B) protect her from the DB she's running from!

They spark really quickly (LOL, you'll get why that's funny once you read this)(and I highly recommend this story!) & I L O V E their banter, their tentativeness, the boldness that's woven into that... There is tension (I wouldn't say angst) and some action. There's friendship & a broken relationship w/ his dad. This story has it all, and I'm looking forward to the next books in the series! : )

I think Ashley has another award winning series on her hands, the characters were lovable and I enjoyed this book. I loved Jason, "Jesus effing Christ, I need to get my head checked. And a drink. I really need a drink." Being interrupted is something Jason hates especially when he was just about to get serious with his woman, "Jason glares at him, taking in the beer, the bag, and the huge grin on Wes's face. "What the eff do you think you're doing here?" With the way Jason acts you'd think the boy hates barbecues, "looks like we're having a effin' barbecue," Jason grumbles after a moment." Jason knows how to make his woman feel special:
"Welcoming you home," I say, as I move through the house, going for the stairs.
She laughs again, this time louder. "But my bags."
I grind her against me, letting her feel how much I want her. 'They can wait darlin'."
I can't wait for the next one in the series
