About Us

When some people look at a crackling fire, they see more than a cozy atmosphere. They see freedom. Freedom from dependence on energy they can’t get, or don’t want. Freedom from modern life’s uncertainties. Freedom to live in the way they choose, in homes that are more truly their own.

That’s what we see, too. For 150 years, US Stove has been empowering that spirit of freedom with heating appliances that keep Americans warm and self-reliant. As America’s hearths transformed from nation-building necessity to proud symbol of independence, we’ve remained obsessed with inventing and building the heating appliances that make it possible.

As we look forward to our next 150 years, that’s one thing that won’t change. US Stove will continue to perfect biomass heating so that it has a clean, safe, renewable role in the energy-secure future we all want. Because we know what keeps America’s home fires burning.

Great for the man cave or to make a syrup evaporator

Great for the man cave or to make a syrup evaporator
Easy to bolt together took about an hour with a grinder and drill. Important to have a hot burn or two outside to cure the barrel before bringing it inside.I used some old BBQ grates inside as a base / place for ash to go but not totally necessary.

One of my favorite amazon purchases to date. Converting an old barrel into a camp stove was made easy with this kit. Its very well made and anyone with some basic skills can knock out a barrel stove quickly. It has been in used now for quite a while and looks like the day it was unboxed. Not related to the product but always a good suggestion is to use a few inches of sand in the bottom of your barrel to keep hot coals elevated and off the bottom of the barrel. It will make it last much longer. Love this kit.

Its all made of cheap metal, had a leg broken, in half, within minutes of trying to set it up. Fortunately I found the original legs that I had saved for this oil tank, Rest of the kit went on smoothly, lots of cutting but looks solid enough. Hope it holds up to the high heat though. *** after maple syrup season, the door and chimney stack have held up just fine despite the high heat they faced day after day. I would not trust the legs unless the unit was stationary in 1 spot, it’s too brittle for movement.

This is what I was looking for to heat my 40 / 56 ft shop. It keeps it around 65 to 70 deg. F. It is a bit light duty but, for 100 bucks it is a good deal. Easy to install. I made a heat exchanger around the barrel and with a blower underneath pushing outside air around the Hot barrel inside. The heat blowing in my shop gets around 150 deg. f. One bit of Caution. HOT!!! It works great for a man cave but keep children and drunk buddies away from it. You will want a pair of welding gloves when operating. I already burnt myself on the door. A steel or wire fence around would be good if you use the barrel only.

Great kit for making barrel stoves. I've been using mine for 2 years now and the only issue is that the surface is completely rusted - which I have no problem with since its cast iron. Very easy to install and everything fits well (like the front vent and door).

5.0 out of 5 stars set it down like a dog sitting

I put it together this morning. I bought a brand new carbon steel barrel and in about 3 hours I had it completed. Tip;- after cutting and installing the front door and installing the front legs, do this- front legs are bolted in. door is on, now, set it down like a dog sitting, center the flue hole at the back end and cut it out, now you have access to the rear, and place it into place, and screw it tight. Now you drill for the rear legs, simply place the last iron legs under the stove, center it, level it, mark it. I used a magnetic torpedo level to make sure all 4 feet were level with the on end with the top facing upwards
