The American Colonies, 1775. It’s a time of civil unrest and political upheaval in the Americas. As a Native American assassin fights to protect his land and his people, he will ignite the flames of a young nation’s revolution. Assassin’s Creed III takes you back to the American Revolutionary War, but not the one you’ve read about in history books.

This game is dull compared to the first four titles in the series. You don't even get to play as Conner until sequence 4, and you don't get to be an assassin until sequence 6 (which is halfway through the game). It's terribly slow and dull. Conner isn't nearly as good of a character as the other assassins in the series. He's far more naive and idealistic than Altair, Ezio and Edward.
The addition of hunting and naval battles offer some variety to the gameplay which can arguably get repetitive and dry after a while (this is something most people have complained about in the Assassin's Creed series as a whole). I think I've spent a whole afternoon hunting in the game. The naval battles could have been fleshed out some more (which they were in Assassin's Creed 4). Also, running through trees in the woods isn't nearly as fun as jumping across the massive rooftops of Florence, Italy.
The gamepad integration in AC3 is what you'd expect. It simply displays a map during gameplay and it plays the cutscenes on the TV on the gamepad during a cutscene. There's no forced gimmick or anything, which is fine. This is a game best played with the Wii U pro controller, in my opinion.
This is not a game for your kids. It's rated M for a reason. It's an okay installment to the series. If you can find it cheap, look into it.
