This one is by far the best uke book out there
I wouldn't even call other books books, they all have standard intro page with a uke picture, finger numbers and basics of standard notation and then they list various chords (from easy to hard) accompanied with relevant song chords. They all have very little text inside and I don't get how they are different from just compilations of song chords. Some of those "books" have just song tablatures which makes me wonder how my ability to remember particular tablature makes me a better uke player.
"Ukulele for Dummies" is COMPLETELY different business. it's a real book.
It has a lot of details, recommendations, tips and really good learning progression with very extensive explanations.
1. The only REAL self learning book on uke
2. Good thought-through learning progression
3. Various styles presented ( Rock, Blues, Hawaiian, Reggae etc. )
4. Really works ( I could make my first arrangement on uke after one week with this book )
1. Abound with slightly annoying jokes of "..for Dummies" style ( that's "Dummies" signature, just ignore it )
2. Very good for complete beginners but doesn't cover sufficiently chords-melody style of arrangement
3. Doesn't have enough exercises and practice recommendations
But all in all this is the only book which is actually taking you somewhere with this instrument
The audio tracks are fine. Not as sophisticated as ukulele exercises ( awesome book - dummies series)
Everyone can pickup tips and improved their playing. Some of the songs are good ones you will actually play too!
