How to choose the right one
There are a number of factors you should consider when searching for your own form of garden shade.
• Consider the layout and size of your own garden. If you own a larger garden, you might opt for a canopy to ensure your garden receives all the shade it needs. If you own a smaller garden or perhaps only need to provide shade for a few people, a parasol might satisfy your needs just as well.
• Consider what you will be using your garden accessories for. If you’re planning on hosting outdoor events, you might opt for a large canopy or a tent. If you just intend on using your garden accessories to provide shade for your garden, a parasol or smaller canopy could be optimal.
• Take into consideration the material used to make your parasol, canopy, or tent. The three primary materials used to make canopies are polyester, polyethylene, and vinyl. Polyester is most commonly used and is durable and water resistant, but doesn't provide great protection against UV rays. Polyethylene is most used for semi-permeable structures and is both waterproof and protects against the sun. Vinyl tops are in reality polyester with a vinyl covering, and are UV resistant, water resistant, and flame retardant.
• Consider how frequently you will be using your garden accessory. The varying sizes of the different accessories means some are much more manoeuvrable than others. If you live in a climate with varying weather patterns and will need to move your furniture indoors frequently, you might opt for a parasol or something of similar size.
