Designed by an Occupational Therapist, UnbuckleMe applies leverage to make it EASY to unbuckle a child's car seat buckle. It helps parents, grandparents and older children who lack thumb strength, or even those with long fingernails. Though you can't attach it to your child's car seat for safety reasons, it's small enough to store anywhere in your car, or attach to a key chain or diaper bag. It is designed to fit around any push-button car seat buckle and has been scientifically tested to reduce the force required by unbuckle by more than 50% on most buckles. // UnbuckleMe was invented by Barbara, who is an Occupational Therapist specializing in hands. She was frustrated that due to some arthritis in her thumb, she could not push the red button of my daughter's car seat. This meant that she couldn't take her out independently, just because of this small limitation. Using thermoplastic splint material, she decided to make a small device to solve her problem. When her daughter Becca saw her invention, she knew there would be others who needed it. They have worked together to bring UnbuckleMe to life. // BPA Free. Made in the USA. Patent Pending. UnbuckleMe should not be attached to any part of the car seat. When not in use, UnbuckleMe should remain out of reach of children to ensure that they cannot unbuckle themselves at inappropriate times. Under all circumstances, it should be used under adult supervision. B&B Solutions LLC will not be held responsible for any injuries sustained while using this product.

I have twins. So that means double everything, right? It means double those darn car seat buckles!!! I have long nails that I was ALWAYS breaking on the buckles. And who has time to go to the salon every other day?! NOT ME! Probably most importantly, I was just diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and that can be especially painful in the hands/fingers. On bad flareup days, I literally could not get my toddlers out of their seats!
I ordered it and it came next day! I ripped it open and made a special trip to the store just so I could try it. I was blown away and how easy it was to use and how painless it was! And of course, I didn’t break a nail.
I used to only go to one place a day with them. Just so I wouldn’t have to struggle with the seat buckles multiple times. Now, I can run my errands all in one go!!
I absolutely recommend this to EVERYONE!!!!!!

As a CPST, I'd definitely recommend this product to someone who is looking for a solution for their 4 - 6+-year-old who isn't quite ready for booster responsibility but can handle the responsibility of getting themselves in and out.
I love the idea. My only real gripe is that if the children are in convertible car seats with NHTSA (National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration) approved 5-point harnesses, it is really difficult to get the UnbuckleMe into place to click the button. It's not long enough to go over top, which would be the easiest way to do it. To use it as is, I loosen the harness as much as possible, pull it out and then sort of shove the UnbuckleMe behind the buckle in front of my kids legs, trying to avoid pinching their chubby little thighs. It's actually harder for me to move the UnbuckleMe around than to just unbuckle the car seat.
It needs two more inches at the closed end. Then you'd be able to go over top of the buckle, and it would be REALLY useful.
I heard about the UnbuckleMe on a carseat safety group I belong to. And I loved the design of it. What the previous product lacked was something to go under the buckle to push against, plus it was bulky. The UnbuckleMe seemed great. Light, easy design and it does not require much force to get the buckle open. There's even a little hole to allow a keychain loop to be added. My daughter had been wanting the other product for herself, as she's highly independent, so I purchased the UnbuckleMe for her instead to try out. She's pleased as punch! She's not quite able to use the UnbuckleMe by herself (she's 3), but I'm okay with that, since she's so young. My 5 yo can use it without any difficulties. Since we've only used it for about a week or so, I'm not sure how durable it is, especially when children are the primary users of it in my home anyway. But it is a good investment and does exactly what it claims.
It works amazingly! My daughter quickly caught on how to use it and now loves being able to get out the car herself for school. It's a big game changer for us. I liked it so much, that I immediately bought a second one for my husband's car. My mom who has physical problems unbuckling carseats, was so impressed that she's getting one too.
In these hot miserable summer days, we both were roasting and I would be drenched in sweat by the time I was able to free him!! This little tool is just incredible! Place it over the button pinch the end and it pops right open!!! I can't thank the inventor of this tool enough!! I had gotten to the point I would make excuses not to have to take him someplace because I dreaded the whole buckle issue!! Now we can go places anytime with no worries at all!! THANKS!!!
I really like how it’s shaped to hook right onto a seatback pocket for storage, or has the small loop to attach to a keychain. I also like that it doesn’t attach to the carseat’s crotch strap, since all seat manuals prohibit adding unapproved products to seats.
My own learning curve - Use this BEFORE loosening the straps. When I unbuckle, I loosen straps first, so naturally that's how I taught him; however, it's still impossible with any helpful device for him to do it this way. So now he does it with the straps tight and then loosens them before undoing the chest clip.
