Product Description

Trista Lennon is strong, independent and only desires freedom. Freedom from the control of her parents, freedom from the motorcycle gangs she has had to put up with her whole life and freedom from a relationship that will trap her into the very life she has no wish to ever live.

The day before she’s supposed to leave for Stanford University to pursue her dreams, her world is shattered. After a tragedy that tears her family apart, her cousin, Talia, invites her to L.A. Her life is all the sudden Hollywood stars and sunshine, late nights and wild parties.

And then she meets him.

Linx Carter isn’t looking for a relationship. He survived a dysfunctional marriage with his childhood sweetheart, which produced two sons, an inability to trust women and a multitude of lies. He merely wants to recuperate from a rough, six month tour Winter’s Regret just completed with superstar band, Scarlet Fever, and enjoy a little peace and quiet.

Until he sees her.

Trista and Linx fight their attraction for one another like war on a battlefield.
She has a closetful of secrets and he would rather be single and pathetic than date a teenage girl who seems older than her years. However the passion between them is too much to resist and they realize in order to heal one another, they must destroy the walls they have constructed so tightly around their hearts.

I absolutely loved this book! Out From Under is the first book in the Lover's Duet series. It is so much more than a story about bikers and a MC club. It's a story about freedom, a daughter trying to find where she fits in and a family's betrayal and secrets. Then Selene Chardou throws in a Rock Star and some steamy sex and you have an amazing story of unconditional love with drama and suspense that will keep you guessing!

You fall in love with Trista and Linx right from the beginning. Trista Lennon is bright, sassy and ready to leave her life in Pine Bluff, Nevada behind her. Right before she is to leave for Stanford University, a family tragedy occurs shattering her world. Her life is turned upside down and she moves out to California to live with her cousin, Talia, the lead singer for the up and coming rock band, Winters Regret. Lennon (Linx) Carter, isn't the typical rock star. He is dark, brooding, serious and would rather stay in the background. After a failed marriage, he wasn't looking for love but also didn't like the loneliness he felt between the stage and his real life.

Trista and Linx are both strong people, but they have a vulnerability about them that you immediately want to fix. Their journey to find happiness is very emotional and they need to heal each other's heart so they can move forward with any type of normalcy. You will love the sensitivity of this rocker and how he protects Trista from her past and wants to be everything to her future!
There are many twists and turns throughout this story and the suspense sucks you in and you can't get enough. Although it ends with some drama, I didn't feel it was a typical cliffhanger where you have to wait to find out if they ever get their HEA.

HASH(0x9cc97300) out of 5 stars Loved IT!! July 31 2013

Let me start out by saying that it's not necessary to read the other series to know of these characters, but since they are interlaced with each other, the flow of the story makes it so much easier to understand, so when you have the time check out Selene's other series to learn about the exciting characters around Scarlet Fever and Winter's Regret.

Okay well this is Linx's and Trista's story and theirs is an exciting story. You have Trista who is young and is going through a life changing experience and you have Linx, who is in the band Winter's Regret. Linx is older and wiser and doesn't want to repeat history with Trista and they fight their attraction for one another. I won't give up any spoilers, but their story is not all hearts, flowers, and kisses. They are raw and passionate, just like their steamy scenes, but their love prevails in the end.

This story takes you on twists and turns and if you have read One More Night series, you get to see what some of the other characters are up to. Even though this book doesn't end on a cliffhanger(much appreciated)...there is an up and coming finale to Linx and Trista's unraveling story called In Too Deep. So after reading this book i can't wait for the next one.

Definitely a must read, especially to add to the list of book boyfriends Selene keeps introducing us to in her series.

HASH(0x9cc97354) out of 5 stars Great read! Aug. 2 2013

Out From Under is the first book the Lover’s Duet series. This is a book about young love, secrets and betrayal. Rock stars and motorcycle clubs add loads of angst and tension to the storyline.

Trista Lennon is wise beyond her eighteen years. Having grown up around motorcycle clubs most of her life, she has experienced a lot. She’s bright, sassy and ready to leave the life behind her. Right before she is supposed to leave for Stanford University, a family tragedy occurs shattering her world. Her life if turned upside down when she has to move out to California to live with her cousin, Talia, the lead singer for the up and coming rock band, Winters Regret.

Linx Carter is the bassist for Winters Regret. He’s divorced with two kids, and he’s not looking for anything serious. When Talia’s cousin moves into town, this tilts his world on it’s axis.

Trista and Linx are great characters. They are both strong in their own right, but also broken souls with a vulnerable side. I love the tension and chemistry between them as they got to know each other. The way they meshed together to get through some of the secrets and betrayals brought to light throughout the book was great.

The plot really took some interesting turns. I wasn’t expecting some of the twists that occurred, and it kept me on the edge wanting to know what happened. I look forward to reading what the next book has in store for Trista and Linx.

HASH(0x9cc97b4c) out of 5 stars May need a 2nd read Dec 19 2013

I received this book as a gift from Selene Chardou and “Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock” for an honest review.

Oh my, where to begin? I found this book difficult to read. There were very few (if any) grammatical errors-but the story is VERY involved and confusing. When I started this book, it felt like I walked into a room full of conversations, and I didn't know the beginning of any of them. There are so many characters to learn--and most of their names begin with the letter "T". It felt as though I was reading book 2 in a series, where everyone has already been introduced, the back story told, and we are moving on. With 3 (or maybe 4) biker gangs, drug dealers, gun runners, bad boys and worse girls, (and let's not forget the rock stars), I almost didn't finish . It was apparent that regular readers of Ms Chardou would have known exactly who everyone was. As it was, this is the first of her books that I've read, and I had no idea who all of the players were or how they were connected.

That being said, it was a good story! Once I got past all of the introductions, names, relations (many of the players are related-either by blood or marriage), I was captivated by the heroine Trista. At only 18 years old, she is more grown up than she should need to be. With her love of designer clothes, designer fragrances, and designer shoes, she is what every girl wants to be-well dressed and smart as a whip!
The hero, Linx, is well well written, talented and very sexy. And he knows what he wants, and how to get it. A true gentleman, he's taken with Trista the first time he meets her. She's not impressed with him, or his profession, and that is what Linx likes the most.
There is a great plot twist-one that I never saw coming. And the decisions that need to be made are hard ones. Ones that no one wants to make.

I will probably re-read this book again, taking more time to get to know the characters. The second book in the series, In Too Deep continues the story with Trista and Linx off and running to save her brother Trey somewhere in Ireland. I'm looking forward to following them.

I'm giving this story 2.5 stars out of 5. Too much confusion in the first couple chapters is off-putting. Get past them, and it's a good book. Let's see if Ms Chardou's follow up can rectify this rating.

HASH(0x9cc97c30) out of 5 stars 4.5 from me! Aug. 17 2013

Selene has become one of my favorite authors. Her story writing ability was just amazing too me and I was drawn into her books from when I first read Falling Into Lust. But as much as I enjoyed that series, this review isn't about them. This is about the spin off book, Out From Under.

Right off the bat, one thing that I did enjoy was how Selene set this book up. Instead of just jumping into the story at the halfway point she gave us a lot of background information. While we were introduced to Linx and Trista in the previous books, we didn't know a lot about them. That is taken care of in this book on many levels.

Trista's story was one that brought tears to my eyes at some parts, and made me want to hit someone at other parts. The things that she had been through in her life was just amazing, yet she was still pushing forward with her life. She shows a lot of courage and strength during the course of this book.

Linx was just.. Linx? He seemed like your typical rock and roll star, but we were able to learn about the real him, the man behind the rock star persona. Being able to find out what had happened in his past that caused him to be the way he is now was just a great thing to uncover. The things that Linx did do to be able to help Trista showed the compassion that he does have, but tries to keep under covers.

The way that this story ended up going, I didn't see coming. Trust me, I was upset that I was so caught off guard, but it was an amazing story. I completely enjoyed the ending and I couldn't agree more with how Selene wrote this book.

Once again, Selene blows my socks off with another great book and I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out!
