From Booklist

Los Angeles shoe designer Maddie Springer is all set for her date with detective Jack Ramirez when he calls to cancel because he has to meet someone. She confronts him at a notorious pickup joint, where, sure enough, he's at a table with a gorgeous woman who turrns out to be a reluctant informant who doesn't take kindly to Maddie's freak-out. Jack isn't happy either when he's reassigned to babysit an actress on the popular nighttime soap Magnolia Lane who is being stalked. The irrepressible Maddie feels awful, so she gets a job in the wardrobe department of the show to try to help Jack identify the stalker. So begins the third installment in Halliday's charming and funny High Heels series. As Maddie stumbles onto quirky characters on and off the set and dangerous situations that could really put a crimp in her love life, the body count rises. Halliday is on top of her game, and readers will love Maddie's new adventure. Hatton, Maria

“It’s rare to find a romantic mystery that’s so funny, but this is certainly one of them. Maddie Springer (is) a ‘Versace’ Nancy Drew everyone can appreciate.”
- Press & Sun Bulletin

“The characters are full of flaws, which make them believable and appealing, and Maddie’s amusing, irreverent voice relating the story will have you smiling ear to ear. Halliday pulls off another hit with UNDERCOVER IN HIGH HEELS!”

All I have to say is how much I loved this book. I couldn't put it done. It was funny, and had some good suspense, and I loved the romance between her and Jack. I love them together. Looking forward to the next book.

HASH(0x9870f774) out of 5 stars Kickin' mystery & romance.... Sept. 10 2007

with a lot of comedy. Maddie and Ramirez still have a sizzling romance, or do they? Maddie is so insecure she starts checking up on Ramirez and gets him in a lot of trouble. She and Dana get jobs on a TV studio to try and help Ramirez with hilarious results.

There are two mystery storylines going on here. Maddie has a stalker, and at the same time she's investigating a murder on the set. These story lines cross and interact in interesting ways with each other.

Maddie is still working on her children's shoe designs and is developing her own line. One of her shoe designs becomes an instant hit in an unusual way. I don't want to ruin the fun so you'll have to read it for yourself.

If you like light comedic mysteries with a hot guy thrown in you'll love this third book in the series.

HASH(0x987ddf9c) out of 5 stars Redeemable Nov. 6 2012

I have the box set of the first few books in this series. I was very unhappy with the first two, but hate to not finish reading something I started. So as I plugged on, they have become more enjoyable. This one seems to be thought out better. The spelling and grammar wasn't bad. The storyline actually made me laugh, smile and I feel it's redeemed my thoughts on the series. I am now looking forward to the next one.

Maddie Springer isn't a PI and she isn't an officer of the law either, but she acts like one. Trouble seems to follow her wherever she goes and, if it doesn't, she makes trouble for herself. In this book Maddie and her friend Dana find themselves on the set of 'Magnolia Lane', a hit television series. Murder and mayhem soon follow Maddie to the set and, despite the danger, she continues pursuing leads and people of interest. Her boyfriend, Jack Ramirez, is a detective with the local police but, of course, Maddie is the one to solve the crime. In order to figure out who is responsible for the on-set murders, Maddie enlists the help of several people, including her reporter friend from several earlier books, Felix. Her romance with Ramirez also goes to a new level in this book but, Maddie seems much better suited to Felix. The book is a combo of chick-lit and light mystery; a fun read but zero substance.

HASH(0x989ce2b8) out of 5 stars A Mystery With Style Sept. 11 2007
By Melia Galloway - Published on

Undercover in High Heels is a very fun and humorous mystery. The plot is simple enough and the mystery was very obvious, but what really makes this book is the great characters.

Maddie is spunky, tenacious, and great fun. She certainly isn't qualified for the roll she assumes, which causes her to stumble through the mysteries and mostly solves them by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. However, this adds to the overall humor of the book. All the secondary characters are also great. Jack Ramirez is a sexy and realistic character who cares about Maddie, even if he isn't sure how to deal with her antics. Dana, Maddie's best friend, is a sex addict trying to get help for her addiction which adds for some funny situations and moments. We also get to see more into the Tabloid reporter, Felix. He is the mysterious character who Maddie isn't quite sure how to react to. Maddie thinks she dislikes Felix, but it seems more like she doesn't wish to accept that she does actually like him. I am waiting to see what happens between Felix and Maddie, as there is some tension between the two that hopefully will be explored in later novels.

Overall this was a very enjoyable read and I am really liking this series. Granted, there are some incidents within this book that seems too convenient and sometimes not realistic, but the lightheartedness this book is going for seems to make it work. So if you are looking for a simple romantic-mystery with a delicious guy, then I highly recommend Undercover in High Heels for a nice lazy weekend.

Insecurity over her relationship with hot cop Ramirez leads Maddie Springer to do something frankly stupid that results in him being demoted and angry with her. She is not so sure that the demotion is all that bad; after all, it lets him work as a bodyguard on the set of her favorite night time soap, Magnolia Lane. Hoping to help him as well see the stars, she gets a job as a wardrobe assistant there. Naturally, trouble soon begins. The female lead's stand-in is murdered, so naturally, Maddie feels like she just has to try and solve the case. Soon, she's getting grotesque death threats, finding herself in unusual positions, and generally re-inventing chaos as she goes. Jealousy surely has put Maddie in a mess this time!

**** Fast paced humor makes the story flow easily. Ramirez is an intriguing hero, which always makes things better. Though at times the mirth tends to override the murder angle, if you enjoy a good, screwball comedy with a hint of mystery, you'll like this. ****
