This book is all about feeling: I love how it connects with the deep feelings parents have for their children with the even deeper feelings that God has for us as our Creator and Heavenly Father. The stunning photos capture and speak to the deep feelings I experience as mother – the photos of the newborns especially make me desire to reach out and breathe in the scent of the baby and kiss his/her face, and of course, take me back to my own time as a mother of a new born (15+ years ago!). I am also reminded of and again feel the wonder of the fact that I participated in a miracle in the creation of my baby - AMAZING! I love how the scripture references back up the connection that is being made between our love for our baby and God’s love for us. This entire book shares the love of God through scripture!
The book takes a seemingly ‘everyday experience’ (sometimes things we take for granted) like parenting (and the parent/child relationship) and places it beside the Word of God, almost like using parables to demonstrate the miraculous.
I was intrigued by the address of current social issues such as self-harm, gender/sexual confusion and sensitive issues like infertility and the loss of a child. These were unexpected (yet vitally important) inclusions that will encourage healthy conversations while, again, holding everything up to scripture.
The beauty of the photography is out of this world and the poetic nature of the wording is a perfect accompaniment.
