Product Description

Product Description

You want intensity? Check out The Used on the Warped and OzzFest tours, and on the band's self-titled debut album. They've given everything to music - relationships, day jobs, everything. They've overcome homelessness, substance abuse and closed-minded environs. Sure they've frightened club owners in their native Utah, what with all the blood and puke as singer Bert McCracken prowls the stage singing and screaming as if jockeying for an aneurysm. But you said you wanted intensity. So now you got it.

Being born and raised in the ultra conservative Mormon stronghold of Orem, Utah, obviously had a profound affect on the Used. As well as confirming them as worthy rivals to Linkin Park, Nickelback and Puddle of Mudd, their splenetic debut album vents a lifetime's worth of bottled up neuroses and unresolved anger, in fervent defiance of their hometown's quiet reserve. With singer Bert McCracken schizophrenically flicking between the passive voice of reason and distraught screamer, their manic assault certainly doesn't pull any punches as they bitterly exorcise failed relationships via the likes of "Buried Myself Alive", which careers from mild mannered hurt, to jack hammer guitars and a blood curdling banshee wail of "If you want me back you're gonna have to ask nicer than that." For sure the stop/start, quiet/loud formula is as old as the hills, but they use it better than most. When they let loose and the screaming starts, the pain and anguish is palpable. Combine that with the huge, unshakable shout-along choruses of "The Taste of Ink", "Noise and Kisses" and "A Box Full of Sharp Objects" and the net result is joyously cathartic. --Dan Gennoe

The Used is a band that is unlike any other that I have ever heard before. They combine your average punk with a more rockier style, and then have a great singer that is a mixture of bolth. The first 3 singles "Buried Myself Alive", "Taste of Ink", and "Blue and Yellow" are very good, and if you've enjoyed them there are much more like that on the album. The band screams alot and has more deeper lyrics then you will find in other punk rock bands. It's music that you can listen to often and still have it sound great everytime. Even if you don't like punk rock, I still would give this band a chance, because in reality they are more alternitive then punky. I have freinds that like Stone Sour and still like this band. The drumming in the songs are really good and so is the guitair. The songs are really catcy and easy to comprehend. If you like the band (Senses Fail) you proboly will like The Used. They sound similar only The Used dosen't sing about eating out peoples hearts. The musics really enjoyable as well, and I hope that you'll like this band as much as I did. I cant wait untill their new album comes out and also when the Projekt Revoluton Tour comes to town.

The Used, wow. This CD absolutely blew me away, its different and has a variety of many genres including, relative punk, rock, hard rock, screamo, emo. This band somewhat sounds like a relatively good radio friendly band at times, however, i never even heard of them until a couple of months ago and have wondered where these guys have been. The guitars here are quite good and so is the rest of the band. I am generally into heavy music, but whenever i come across a band that seems very new and revolutionary..i acknowledge them no matter what genre (always in Rock to Death metal cultures)
These guys are unique and the one guy that really stands out among anyone is of course Bert McCracken. This guy is a God!. He is one Tremendous singer and as many fans may know, Bert has one of the most powerful and intense screams out there. Whenever this guy plays a live show he (Bert) vomits onstage due to all the emotion of the screaming done. McCracken is also one of the most emotional singers i've ever heard. He is very unique and is very talented when it comes to song writing. His lyrics are just outstanding on this debut album, and somewhere down the line when The Used gets popular (probably) people will go bck, buy this album and then people will really notice what the hell this band started and created from.
To me this is the best debut album of all time, i Still cant stop listening to this. All songs are worth listening the whole album through for.
I DO give this band 4.5/5 stars on the album, ONLY because i REally think that the next album they make will be alot better and will truely be the breakthrough of greatness for this band.
Songs:
1.Maybe Memories --9.5/10
2.The Taste Of Ink -- 9.5/10
3.Bulimic --9/10
4.Say Days Ago --10/10
