Product description

Ideal for research in the lab or classroom, the E2 combines functionality with sleek minimalist design. Its sturdy construction resists wear and the heavyweight paper admits minimal show-through. This notebook features Smyth-sewn binding, the most durable construction available, which also permits the pages to lay flat for easy writing and recording. The 5x5 grid layout is suited to precise, detail-oriented work. Included inside are an index, user information section, and conversions charts; all pages are pre-numbered for intuitive organization. Vela notebooks are produced entirely in the USA with high-grade materials and original, considered design.

Love this notebook. It lies flat and has an index. The grid is perfect for drawings. Could easily be adapted to suit other needs.

I use a medium tip Pilot Metropolitan fountain pen with this notebook.
I found the paper to be thick, and not bleed through at all, unless you let a little puddle of ink form. There is a small amount of feathering, but it was inconsequential for me. It also lays nice and flat, regardless if you are writing on the very first or last page, or the last page.

Overall, I enjoyed this notebook and found it to be of great value for someone who uses a fountain pen.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best notebook I've found for grad school

This notebook is the best. I'm not an engineer, but I use it for all my grad school classes -- it's particularly helpful for stats and econ classes, but it's great for everything. I just put in removable tabs to make it a three subject notebook. The pages are so sturdy that you can write with a heavy hand in a dark ink and there is no bleeding to the backside of the page, so you can easily use front and back of every page. I'm going to buy more for work and school.

A wonderful notebook!

Awesome Things about this notebook:
- Thick pages that allow me to use gobby gel pens and not see ANY bleed through to the other side
- Comfortable sized grids that seem somewhat smaller than most (the 4x4) as these are the 5x5.
- The printing is done with beautiful blue ink that is clear, yet soft on the eyes
- Table of contents, numbered pages, and a reference in the back of the book
- Wonderfully sturdy construction
- Made in the USA!

It is truly a notebook that I love writing for my lab work. The paper does not bleed and has a wonderful smooth texture that doesn't leave any ink not absorbed. The cover is possibly the only imperfection in this notebook. It looks wonderful and has a soft, smooth texture, yet feels durable and sturdy. I am merely concerned about how it will wear cosmetically. It seems prone to scratches, smudges, and slight water splashes.

With all of that being said, even in spite of the price, it is the only notebook I will be buying for research from now on.

4.0 out of 5 stars 144 Pgs...? Not the best quality, but it's looks good.

It looks great. Simple and not cheap, but the notebook is not sturdy enough. I wanted hard cover, but it's somewhat soft. The front cover did not have sticker on, so I was glad, but it looks like somebody dropped my notebook. One corner is mushed. I haven't tried writing, so I don't know how heavy the paper feels like, but honestly, it's hard to say the notebook has 144 pages. Page number ends at 136. Possibly, 144 is including index and other extra pages here and there. Plus... I thought 144 meant 144 papers. I didn't know they meant it was front and back 144 pgs. Could be my fault, but I wonder how other notebooks are.

3.0 out of 5 stars professional engineering log book

Nice log book with engineering pages and professional looking cover. I'm pretty hard on my books and we will see how long it lasts and will update this review if problems. It has a nice section to write an index and detailed into page.

Update after long use: My only complaint is that the cover got a stained looked with patches of shinny and dull areas. The notebook was sturdy after long use and I was happy with it overall except for the patched cover.
