Product Description

My name is Calla Price and I’m drowning.

My new world is a dark, dark ocean and I’m being pulled under by secrets.

Can I trust anyone? I don’t know anymore.

The lies are spirals. They twist and turn, binding me with their thorns and serpentine tongues. And just when I think I have it figured out, everything is pulled out from under me.

I’m entangled in the darkness.

But the truth will set me free.

It’s just ahead of me, so close I can touch it. But even though it shines and glimmers, it has glistening fangs and I know it will shred me.

Are you scared?

I am.

"It's a rabbit hole and I'm the rabbit and I'm crazy."

verum: truth

Truth. There were many truths revealed in this second book but as for which are real or imagined, your guess is as good as mine! I'm still not sure what I read and what it means. It's like I was given more puzzle pieces but it's not for the puzzle I'm working on! This was frustrating and confusing as hell yet I was glued to my Kindle. I couldn't put it down. I needed to know what was going to happen...a lot of good that did me! In the second book of this series, the web gets more complex and sticky and I got tangled up until I didn’t know which end was up. The eerie feeling that shrouded the first book continues yet a strong prominence and chill of death also permeates this second book.
As for Calla and Dare, they do this weird and cryptic dance throughout the entire novel and I truly have no grasp as to what's real and what's not.
I have a sinking feeling as to what might be the case but we've already established that when it comes to this series, nothing is ever what it seems so who knows!

**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by my source.**

Verum doesn't deviate from the setup of Nocte: it continuously builds until the big reveal and leaves you wondering "what on earth just happened?!"

Why I would rate this one lower than Nocte is simply because of the plot execution. It was a lot of "I can't tell you" and that got tiring to read on an ongoing basis (especially when Nocte had a similar theme already). I don't like books where you are purposefully left in the dark like that--they frustrate me even if I understand why the characters are doing things that way (like I did here). I suppose the bright side is that it keeps me on my toes, wanting to know what happens next. And the reveal was worth it in the end.

Overall, a fantastic read that fans of Nocte will undoubtedly enjoy!

I love a book where you are second guessing everything, you don't know what's real and what's not. I loved book one and the ending shocked me beyond belief. What I thought was happening wasn't even close.
I went into this book thinking I knew better and that there was no way the author was going to get me again...and bam...she I'm anxiously awaiting book 3...hope it comes out sooner than the summer, but will wait to get it.
Great series, not a cookie cutter book and is the reason why I love it, plus the really want them to get through this and end up together.
