The title says it all, it's simple. This book would be pretty good for someone brand new to the investment scene or someone who just wants the basics. I didn't like the comparison to bunnies, thought it was a bit ridiculous actually. I didn't like the reference material utilizing TD, Questrade & Tangerine. Been there, done that. The passive investing scene has evolved since this book was written. This is certainly no fault of the author, who I might add is excellent in his approach. 2017 and beyond is an era of automated passive and passive/active hybrid systems that in my opinion make the material in this book somewhat dated. If you're a beginner, the concepts are very good and easy to understand. I read this book cover to cover in 2 hours without ever experiencing a wow factor. I gave this book 4 stars, my reasoning, it's excellent for a beginner, it's Canadian content is a big plus and the investing information is accurate and solid. If you're like me and wanted more content, more detail, more about ETF systems, unfortunately I'd have to say, it doesn't deliver.

The book itself is an incredibly useful starting point for any Canadian interested in investing with no idea to start. I augmented my learning by googling different terms and watching YouTube videos of Canadian investors to help explore and expand some of the concepts covered in this book to get a BROADER picture why and how. This book was THE foundation though, and helps you really know what and how things work. Especially because the 2018 version (which is what this is, this book originally came out in 2014) covers Roboadvisors like WealthSimple and others and a few others which seem to be gaining some momentum in the last few years.

Anyway, great book that walks you through everything: the basics of why and how to most safely invest your money, what a TFSA, RRSP, and RESP are - covers unregistered accounts (though lightly) and roughly when and where you would use your contributions to TFSA, RRSP and RESP - which is a good strategic starting point for a new investor to understand the differences. More than that it has worked examples to give you a good example of how and WHY to invest in what which helps pull it from theory to practice. And the author also has useful links to sites and spreadsheets for more information and tools for your own financial planning!

I would recommend reading this with 'Millionaire Teacher' to get a very good foundation of: how and WHY to save money to then going on to knowing how much and why to invest in what, using what type of account in different situations. After that, you should know enough to start researching your own questions to learn and optimize your own saving!

Helpful and easy to read, great for the index investor. From compound interest to understanding registered accounts and tax implications. Personally didn't like some of the more simplistic "bunny" explanations and metaphors but I can see how they could help some people. Found some nice calculators through the book on how much I should save given my current situation, CPP calculator and a financial plan template to customize and use to get you through market downturns. I definitely recommend this book if you're just starting out or if you're somewhere in the middle like me and could use some clarification and more info.

I've just started reading this book, but it does a great job at it's overall goal of removing the complexity from investing. There's a ton of useful tables and graphs in the book to back up the explanations and core concepts.

It's great in that it provides very specific, actionable advice that can you get started with investing pretty quickly.

I like that it walks through exactly how to invest in a brokerage account, as well as a a diverse set of topics around investing including the behavioural side.

Would recommend overall based on solely the clarity/structure of the writing and how actionable the advice is
