this book was a really cute read, the main character Mak is hilarious and entertaining. She is a reporter for a nasty tabloid and will do anything to get her story. It was interesting to wat ch her evolve. Lookinf forward to book two and how the vampire storyline gets introduced.

HASH(0xa5e49a98) out of 5 stars I kept waiting for something to happen. May 19 2013

To be honest, I really didn't like the voice of the book. While an interesting concept, I found myself pushing through the book to see what happens. Like my title says, I kept waiting for something to happen and it didn't. I downloaded this when it was free but won't purchase the second in the series. Of course, I would like to know what happens but I can't push like that again through a book to be let down.

HASH(0xa5e51dec) out of 5 stars Not for me Feb. 18 2014
By Deborah - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
This book was not for me, after reading the title I joked with my friends that I'd found my book for the night. I made it as far as chapter 4 but even the best will in the world couldn't get me to read any further, so glad it was a free read. The first few pages have Mak the main character making out with herself on the dance floor and it went downhill from there she fumbles around, supposedly a reporter, laughing in inopportune places, stumbling around spilling tomato juice down a Chanel ivory suit even her notebook falls from her shirt and get put in the toilet. I love comedy but this was just awful I was embrassed while reading it maybe I'm too old or maybe it's just not my humour but I feel I did well to make it to chapter 4.

HASH(0xa5db1180) out of 5 stars Likeable April 2 2013

Just so you all know, I am silently cursing this author in my head! This was a fantastic read. Mak is a clumsy fool, always getting into one scheme or another. I found myself fighting to not laugh out loud. (There were quite a few stares from people in Starbucks). This character is highly likable and well developed.

Jonathan, well he sounds sexy as hell, but I really can't decide if I like him, hate him or love to hate him! This is a must read! Though, titled Vampire Affair, there is no mention of Vampires, so I feel maybe the author should have extended the book a little further, but all in all, an edge of your seat book that leaves you gasping for the next one!

Clearly this is just a set up but it feels like a tease. And a confusing one at that. I want to see what happens next but then I don't. Plus her journalistic ethics seemed to have crashed & burned but I guess if you work at a gossip rag, you stoop to seducing your target. I don't know. Maybe the main character's profession offends me so much I can't like her & root for her. Who knows.
Basically my rambling is to say that I don't know how to rate this story. The writing is too good for 2 stars or lower but the plot line isn't good enough for 4 stars so I'd say a 3.

HASH(0xa5e1dc78) out of 5 stars Yet another one... June 9 2014

That suckers you in with a handful of pages---authors and their "serials" are getting ridiculous. They get you to buy Part 2, Part 3, Part 4... and before you know it, you've paid 40.00 for a book that should cost 4.00. I for one refuse to do the "serial" novels any more. They've gotten out of hand with it. And to be honest, this "short" wasn't good enough to spend the next year or so and 40.00+ on.
