I was hoping it would be full of veggie dishes using lots of pulses and vegetables that I could literally throw in the pot and come back to 4-6hrs later for a wholesome, healthy cooked meal. Nope, not this book. 90% of the recipes involve a lot of non slowcooker preparation, so much so in fact that all that is left to do is simmer, meaning..... if you just followed the recipe then instead of transferring to the slow cooker, just continued to simmer for 30minutes, you'd have the same meal, 4hrs sooner....
I gave it 2 stars because, if you don't have much space and ONLY a slow cooker, there are lots of inventive ways of using the slow-cooker to cook lots of other stuff too, like desserts.
As is usually the case with Judith Finlayson's cookbooks, the recipes are simple to follow with for the most part, ingredients that are easy to find or ones that you probably already have on hand.
I have enjoyed quite a few recipes in this book already and plan to make more in the future. I am particularly intrigued by some of the dessert recipes, something I have not used my slow cooker for, to date.
