Product Description

A top technothriller for three years - 40,000 downloads!

We fear pandemics, but what if one gave you immortality?

Humanity needs immortality, but not just to live longer. Immortality is an essential part of Sir Richard's plan to save life on earth.

Book one of the series tells how three genetic engineers came to develop a cure for death - the Immortality Gene.

Of course there's more to immortality than a simple medical mystery. In the story you'll find romance, the mystery of a secret organisation ruling the world, high technology, greed, power struggles, hidden places and murder. It follows the fortunes of a genetic engineer who flees a dying maniac trying to kill her.

Book 2 in the series is ‘Dark Secrets’ http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004SP6N3Q

The Series

Immortality Gene sets the scene for an extended series of books which might be described as romantic thrillers, but could also be technothrillers, science fiction, genetic engineering or paranormal romance. It features a love triangle, psychics, telepathy, doctors and nurses, genetic engineering, murder and mystery. It's set in this century and features real technology being developed now – and that includes immortality!

It's long. It's involved, and this first book is at a bargain price!

About the Author

John and Shelia Chapman are a husband and wife team who met on Internet and crossed the Atlantic to be together. John, an English ex-science and computer teacher contributed the technology and 'nasty' bits while Shelia drew on her medical experience in the USA and produced the romance. The humour? That came from real life.

HASH(0x9bffe62c) out of 5 stars Lots of hidden depths June 29 2013

This seems such a simple story at first. A doctor has a row with her employer and quits. Then she gets shot at and escapes to England with a friend who's rich, good looking and intelligent - a simple romance with the sort of man every girl dreams of right? Wrong! This is the first of a book series. I've read four of them so far and can't believe how many twists and turns there are in the story. Nothing is as you expect it to be. The heroine seems to succeed in producing a genetically engineered virus designed to keep people young forever but just as it's ready to be tested, she's killed! What do they do? Try it out on her of course!

And then... suddenly you're at the end of the book and you don't know if the virus worked! Talk about a cliffhanger. You just HAVE to get the next book to find out. I'll give you a hint - the second book is just the same - full of twists, and another cliffhanger.

HASH(0x9ca11504) out of 5 stars Great book to read. July 29 2014

I like the fact that this story is not a Harliquen romance, while it is a romance story there is a realism to it. Reality, most of us believe in love, yet life happens, love is not always easy day in and day out.

HASH(0x9b1676f0) out of 5 stars Fantastic Plot, Weak character/relationship building Sept. 12 2012

Donna is a genetic scientist who quits her job at the start of the book. She then gets whisked away to London for her safety. This begins her journey into a world of secret orders, medical and technological advances beyond those known by the world, evil villans and secrets from her own past.

I picked up this book for free and am now half way through book #2. I read some of the reviews and wanted to make some comments.

First, yes, there are many references that include medical terms and technology terms. The authors weave this into the story very well. If medical/technology based details bother you; maybe you should avoid this series. I actually really enjoyed the technology angle- it is very fun to think about some of the things people have created in the authors world!

Second, the history and depth of the story line really drags you in. There are many unanswered things and from the looks of it around 8 books in the series to exapand upon the world!

Third, my biggest complaint is the character relationships. Donna, Ricky, Sam and Gary all come across as extremely immature when it comes to relationships/romance. I spent alot of time rolling my eyes at the ways these characters interacted with each other and felt like I was on a flash back to high school or maybe a bit of Gossip Girl inserted into the story. Gary tells Donna that he thinks Sam likes her. Ricky falls immediately in love with Donna with out any explanation and he breaks up with his current girlfriend that very day. Sam and Donna talk on the phone late night and he tells her that he loves her. All of this happens within a few days!

Overall, the story so far is interesting and fun. I did have to do a bit of glossing over the relationship aspects because it did not feel realistic for mature adults- but that has not ruined the story for me.

This book got me hooked! The characters are real. The plot is elusive but tantalizing. If you like books that entertain with a little romance and devious characters then read this book. But beware...you will be hooked and will have to read the next one!
