A veterinary materia medica and repertory -- what a great idea! However, this very compact book will not eliminate the need for a standard materia medica and repertory, nor is it intended to. The materia medica catalogues only about 280 remedies (listed alphabetically). Each entry includes information about the remedy's origin, the major actions on the body systems, and some of the most common uses of the remedy. While the entries for some of the major remedies span over a page, other entries take up only a small paragraph, and Dr. Macleod concedes that there is much more that could be written about each remedy's actions and indications. Clearly his book is meant to be used in conjunction with a more comprehensive standard materia medica. The materia medica of the nosodes also includes a guide to using nosodes therapeutically as well as prophylactically (though the effectiveness of the latter is somewhat controversial in classical homeopathy circles). Finally there is a brief clinical repertory that lists common ailments (no detailed lists of symptoms as is the case with more comprehensive standard repertories) and some of the remedies that may be indicated for their treatment. The list of remedies is by no means exhaustive, so further research may well be necessary to find the correct remedy.

This is a very helpful book for anyone doing homeopathic research for animals. Lots of things out there for people and very little in this line for animals. I have been using the book for two weeks now and found it to be of serious nature for homeopathy for animals. I am doing homeopathic courses for animals and I have a lot of research material, this has become one of my number one books to turn to. Of course, keep in mind, nothing is cut and dried with homeopathy, there is a lot to know and a lot to learn all the time.

This book is available new for $19.95 from homeopathic book sellers. Too bad Amazon does not carry it, but no reason to buy a used copy when you can get a new one for the same price.

This is a very fine book for anyone who has already a background in the philosophy of Homoeopathic Medicine.
You will need to understand strengths and the basic knowledge of homoeopathy before consulting this book.
Unless you plan to stock up on a lot of stuff, this book will more likely provide general knowledge about the various products.

He also lists addresses nosodes.

Fine book. There has been an updating from other sources, I understand, but this man, Dr. Macleod is so highly regarded that I am delighted to have been able to obtain a copy of this book.

The reprint was date 1997 and has the older cover, not the one pictured on Amazon. Also, there is no index in the back nor reference list for
organizations. There are very brief and incomplete descriptions of the
remedies; however, some value to the book as it has some little known remedies that warrant further research.
