Arrived sharp and ready to go. I used it to fillet two medium-sized black cod / sablefish. It was sharp and maintained a good grip. The 8" knife is actually fairly big, but it is light and still agile enough for me to do a decent job on this size of fish. Cuts through the small rib bones and skin effortlessly. The blade has decent flex to it.

I'm not sure how long it will last before I need to sharpen it, but I'd say that for the price it already seems like it is worth it.

I'm more of a cook than a fisherman, so not having a protective sheathe was fine.

I can only get frozen whole Popano where I live and filleting them with my old knife was a chore. The difference between using that knife and this one is night and day. Super-sharp so be careful but also long and flexible making filleting a breeze. The first time I used it I thought, "Where have you been all my life?!"

There may be better ones around the pier, but for home use this knife's ideal. Only time will tell if it holds its edge. If not, I'll update this review.
