One problem I have with it is the phone storage, I cannot fit a lot of apps in it since moving the apps to the SD card doesn't mean it won't take up space in the phone storage, it just takes up less space. I find myself having to delete apps and downloading them again when I want to use it to save space. There are also a lot of apps that cannot be moved to the SD card like google plus and google maps, both which I really want to keep but take up a lot of the phone storage space.
Another problem I have with it is the settings button at the bottom of the screen. I think it is defective already because it gets selected even though I didn't touch it. It's annoying when it gets stuck and it's triggered like 20 times a minute when I'm trying to type something or when I'm playing a game. Also, it takes a long time to charge and it wouldn't charge in my car because I think there is not enough electricity going through the usb cable. However, it uses the standard usb plug so it's easy to find in any store.
A good note I want to leave on this product is that it comes with a really nice fake leather case. For the price, you get two cameras, usb charger and cable, and a sturdy black fake leather case. Also, I can plug in my SIM card and use it as an unlocked phone so I don't regret buying this product.
She was able to activate it on T-Mobiles network in the U.S. (which coincidentally roams on Rogers in Canada) and I was able to use it on a trip to the Netherlands (roaming on T-Mobile). This truly is a world phone because it support 4 bands of GSM and 3 bands of UMTS. I just popped in a sim card and activated it on PC Telecom (which uses Bell's UMTS network without any problems, so you may be able to use it on Bell or Telus' networks). The power cord it comes with also includes different snap-on plugs for Europe etc, so no travel adapter required!
With the exception of the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the iPad, there aren't any (?) other tablets that you can use on a mobile network, certainly none at this price.
Yes there are limitations to this device: the processor is slower than most tablets, Android 2.2 can't be updated, no Adobe flash, no camera flash, internal memory is limited (so install your apps to the SD card) etc, but it seems to work reasonably well. Again, consider the price and if you can live with these limitations, then the ViewPad is for you.
Other comments on the ViewPad: The screen is clear and the multi-touch is responsive. The wifi capability is better than my iPod touch and I can connect to networks the iPod can't see. Finally, I find the core apps on Android, such as Contacts and the browser, better than on Apple's iOS (iPhone, iPad).
The product has performed as advertised !
Our son recently spent more than 2 weeks traveling in Europe and for the duration of the trip our contact with him was via the tablet and its' Wi-Fi connectivity.
The Android operating system, to date, as been trouble-free and the size of this tablet is perfect for reading emails, social networking sites and for day to day travel use.
At this point in time and for the price that we paid for it - I can confidently recommend the device.
