A good product, which appears sturdy enough for what I intend to use it for, which is not everytime I take a picture.

So far, I haven't had any issues with it and it worked well enough all the times I used it.

The only thing is that it's not obvious that to turn it on, you have to hold down the 'SET/1-0' button given that right besides it, there is a misleading 'hold/on' switch, but that's not the seller's fault but rather the manual writer's'

HASH(0xa5875e4c) out of 5 stars Low quality construction Dec 28 2010

This item worked great for precisely two photo shoots.

Then the cable broke. This item is useless without the cheaply made cable. I searched high and low for a replacement cable but cannot seem to find one anywhere. At least not at a price that makes sense. It's cheaper to just buy a new unit.

I even called Vivitar but they were less than helpful. First I was put on hold and then the call was disconnected. Then I called back and they told me since it's wireless it doesn't need a cable. I laughed and tried to explain that while the transmitter to the receiver is wireless the receiver has to communicate with the camera somehow. At this point the customer service representative began to belittle me and act extremely disrespectful to me. I was finally put on hold for several minutes and then told to send it in to them and they will replace the item in 1-2 months. That is an unacceptable time frame for me.

I would steer clear of dealing with Vivitar if this is any indication of how things run over there.

The seller delivered the item in a timely manner and I have no complaints with them.

HASH(0xa587e090) out of 5 stars This one is the best of its kind and great for doing "self" family portraits. April 5 2010

This is the best wireless remote of its class and price range. You'll get some phenomenal shots of yourself and your family using this Vivatar wireless remote and with out a lot of tedious hassle of set up and headaches from faulty equipment that is unreliable and doesn't work half the time. I ended up tossing out 2 prior purchases of remotes from other "no name" manufacturers due to frustration in consistency.

There are also bonus features on this remote that are a dream come true:
***** Continous shooting mode ***** After you set the focus on it with a light tap you can then press the button and it will fire off 5 shots at 2 second intervals. My Nikon allows for this also, but you have to find it on the menu set it all up and after a few minutes of time you'll get this. With the Vivatar remote it only takes a second to flip the switch to this mode and you are ready to go, simply amazing!
***** 2 second remote timer ***** After you focus yourself or the group in the photo you press the button and then after 2 seconds the remote will then take the picture. The big plus on this feature is that it allows to tuck away the remote in your pocket so that it is not seen in your photos.

Great product overall and a steal of deal for the price.

Sincerely,
Greg Arbutine

HASH(0xa587e2f4) out of 5 stars Great Wireless Remote for Nikon Nov. 30 2009

This wireless remote is so easy to use. I'm pretty bad at setting these types of gadgets up but this comes with an awesome little book that's short sweet and to the point. Very easy to use and seems quite solid in construction, i'm sure i'll get alot of use out of this instead of having to worry about people taking bad shots i'll just setup my tripod now and do it all on my own. Works on my D300 great!

It worked for three months and then it started shooting random shots on its own. I wiggled the wire and it started shooting shots again on its own,.Cable broke and stopped working. Poor quality. g

HASH(0xa587e858) out of 5 stars Simple to use, works great. Jan. 30 2012

I bought the remote shutter release to use with my Nikon D700. Wanted to eliminate any hand shake when shooting birds. Even with my camera on a tripod, I would get shake when I pressed the shutter button. The Vivitar remote lets me line up a bird, stand back and press the button at my leisure. The auto focus is great too.

I had a short lived problem with the transmitter. The problem was quickly resolved by going to the last page of the short manual and reading how to use the remote. Not the action a man wants to admit, but it took about ten seconds to read the last page and everything works fine.
