The Voice of Tino Pattiera: Arias, Duets and Songs
In my mid-twenties,from 1951 to 1953,I lived in Vienna, and studied singing with Tino Pattiera. He guided me through my debut at the Graz Opera in the role of "Gilda" in "Rigoletto". I appeared under the name of Lea Rogan.
Tino was 64 at the time, and no longer singing, so I never realized what a great career he enjoyed until I discovered this recording. Tino was no doubt one of the greatest tenors of all time. I was lucky to have studied with him, and I loved this recording.

HASH(0x9cfc6798) out of 5 stars Pattiera was so good! Aug. 21 2005

Format: Audio CD
Why is this exciting singer so little known today? Perhaps his beautiful voice and impassioned singing is still treasured by some people, but I'll bet that most music lovers would have heard very little, if anything at all, of his recorded legacy. This set goes some way towards explaining why Pattiera was so well regarded in his relatively brief years of triumph. Why, in view of his obviously great talents, did he not enjoy a wider international success? This matter remains a puzzle.
