Product Description

Darla Records is proud to announce the first US release from Danish electronic music artist Manual & his frequent collaborator Jess Kahr aka Limp. Jonas Munk Jensen Manual has been working toward more ambient sounds on recent releases Into Forever (Morr) & the brilliant Isares (Static Caravan). The North Shore is a near pure ambient album though it still has melody & composition. The sound is a combination of the introspective moods of Eno's classics Ambient 4 & Plateau Of The Mirr

HASH(0xa3344240) out of 5 stars ENO OF 2003 March 19 2004
By Daniel R Ashton - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Manual (aka jonus munk) has produced a few awsome records. check out his stuff on the amazing morr music label. Such beautiful electronia. Imagine Slowdive using synth instead of guitars and you get the idea.
With this, his most recent release, Manual has produced a much more ambient record. This could quite easily be Brian eno at his most beautiful. Imagine "an ending", vibe, with 7 different tracks.
if only his stuff was easier to find over here. Fans of morr music artists (mum, solvent etc) or Brian eno will love this

HASH(0xa326dbf4) out of 5 stars Hushed tones Jan. 1 2005
By Boon Sheridan - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Coming from Darla records and with phrases like "Move With Water, Drift With Tide" on the back it's easy to get an idea of what you're in for: washes of sound, atmosphere and blissed-out slices of heaven. The disc doesn't disappoint on any of those levels. Crafted in the vein of Füxa, Vir Unis and other minimalist artists the seven tracks here are hushed swaths of tones that move in and out without percussion. "Dawn Changes Everything" has a tinkling keyboard opening that rises and falls as the next wave of sounds builds and (theoretically) dawn breaks. The sounds are much warmer than some of the other works in this space but the nine-plus minute drone of "Burn" does begin to lose steam as the minutes tick off. If you've been the type to think NPR's Hearts of Space is just the punch line to an old Mystery Science Theater 3000, this is not for you. Anyone who likes to crank the speakers (or the headphones) and get lost in a disc will dig this.

Therapeutic is the best word I can think of to describe this cd.If you're looking for something to relieve stress you'll love The North Shore. The first six tracks are very ethereal(especially track #6)and I found the last track to be uplifting. A great overall experience.
