Can Finan come to realise that, despite the loss he has suffered, his life needn't be the prison he has made it?

About the Author

Hi everyone! My name is Dee Dee, I'm twenty seven and I live in a beautiful part of Devon, England, with my family. That introduction made me feel a little bit like I was on Blind Date!!! As our house is in the countryside we have some unusual neighbours including chickens, ducks, geese, pheasants, a cat (that adopted us when we moved in!!!) and some koi. I also have a very long suffering younger sister, Jingle, who is a brilliant guitar player. She keeps me supplied with coffee and brownies, generally making sure that the Chant household doesn't grind to a halt. I really hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I enjoy writing them. I love reading and have a kindle, I enjoy almost every genre; if there is adventure and romance I'll be there with coffee and a brownie! I also like to cook and wear impractical high heels! You may also have noticed that I have a horrible addiction to exclamation marks!!!

HASH(0xa3742ba0) out of 5 stars Better than the first book! Sept. 3 2014

>Subject - book review - The Vow

> Review

>I received this book from the author and from Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock. This book is the second book in the Lady Quill Chronicles. This is a regency romance that ends in an HEA with more of the story to come.

>This story continues just after book one ends. Adele is brought to Valrek, the family castle and meets Rafe's 2 sisters and mother. I love how the reader was treated to the wedding between Adele and Rafe. Among the romance, there is a sinister air. Someone is trying to kill Rafe and his trusted man, Finan, is injured. As Rafe's sister, Esme, cares for Finan, a new romance begins to bloom. There is also a battle of wills between the other sister, Aisly, and Rafe's strange friend, Daegmund. The comic relief is in the verbal sparring between these two characters. I sense a budding romance, but nothing really happened.

>All of Rafe's friends were on the scene, as were some poignant scenes with Rafe's father. All the men respect Lord Brogan and the love he has for them all shows. The evil man is not really dealt with and a new unknown enters the mix. Who is the Brotherhood and what is their real purpose?

>This is a very clean romance. There was no descriptive wedding night scenes. I was wishing for a reminder that there had been a wedding night between Rafe and Adele. Maybe with shy blushing at breakfast or something. This was the only thing I felt was missing from the book. The story flowed well, had a lot of surprise and suspense and a bit of romance. I thought book 2 surpassed book 1 by far.

> This book is for a young adult (14+) and adult audience.

HASH(0xa3736018) out of 5 stars Fun Medieval Series! Sept. 16 2014
By Kathy (Bookworm Nation) - Published on

This was another fun medieval read and I was happy to be reunited with all the characters I came to love in The Promise. This picks up right where the first one leaves off, I’d recommend reading them together. It’d been a couple years since I read the first book and I was glad I re-read it before starting this one. I’m sure you don’t have to do that to get in to the story, but for me I was glad I did. If you enjoyed the first book, you'll love this one too!

Finan was wounded in the last book and is still recovering from those wounds when there is another attack on Rafe’s life, sustaining even more wounds. He hates been fussed over, especially by a women and is horrified when Rafe’s sister Esme is the one assigned to take care of him. He was pretty rough with her throughout the book, she really had a lot thicker skin than I would have had. Or maybe, I am just way too stubborn and would have left him to his own devices until he treated me better. I was glad she stuck around though and help tear down his defenses. It was fun to watch their relationship develop.

The story is told from a few different POV, so we get to reunite with all our favorite characters and it helps the story progress. I think my favorites this time around were Leofrick (who is charming and adds a fun comedic element, but has more going on than what he lets people see) and Daegmund (who is a big jerk, but a confident one that I couldn’t help but like).

Overall, a fun read and a fun series. Can’t wait to read about more of these characters!

HASH(0xa3b32480) out of 5 stars The Lady Quill Chronicles Book Two July 29 2014

The Vow by D.D. Chant
The Lady Quill Chronicles Book Two
Finan of Gournay is one of four foster sons to Lord Brogan of Valrek. Finan lives to protect this House and all within. After his blood brother Evoric was killed in the Calis battle, a part of Finan died as well and changed him forever.

Lady Esme is a Daughter of Valrek and she missed her childhood friend and was determined to find the person Finan once was, even if she has to put up with his brutal assault of words, as she cared for him after he was injured.

The reader will understand a lot more of all that is happening if they read the first book in this series, The Promise. There are many characters, but not so hard to follow once you learn them. Rafe and Adele begin the adventure in book one but the reader also meets many of the other characters. The same is true in this book. Leofric of Drogan, Daegmund of Gradock and Rand of Targhe along with Rafe’s other sister Aisly. The books finish without letting you hang, but keep you looking forward to the next love stories...andDD adventures to come.
HASH(0xa373f21c) out of 5 stars Clean Mid evil romance. March 26 2015

I liked this book better then the first. I knew everyone and when points of view were switched around it was easy to follow who it was. This got a little crazy in the first book. I just love this little family and I don't want to wait to read the third I might forget all these great characters. The book had tons of the first books love story and it went right from one book to the next. I would recommend reading one right after the other. The love story was interesting and if it hadn't been for all the other stuff going on I would have gotten frustrated with it. The leading man basically thinks woman are a plague and the love story is a frustrating one.
HASH(0xa37e6ef4) out of 5 stars I continue to love this authors writing style Aug. 30 2014

I continue to love this authors writing style. The story is told very eloquently. I always enjoy this time period in books. I got to go back and be with all the characters that I loved and get to know everyone even more. I really liked Finn in the first book and this one is no exception. I was not ready for this story to end!
