HERE IN CENTRAL FLORIDA WEATHER IS NOT A PROBLEM FOR BIRDS BUT WE LOVE TO WATCH THEM.
NO LEFTOVERS, PICKED CLEAN EVERY DAY. I FEED ON GROUND TRAYS AS WELL AS PLATFORMS AND EVEN PUT SOME FEED DIRECTLY ON THE GROUND. CURRENTLY HAVE 20 TO 30 DOVES, A DOZEN BLUE JAYS, 3 PAIRS OF CARDINALS, 4 SANDHILL CRANES AND EIGHT WILD TURKEYS AS WELL AS ABOUT TEN EVER PRESENT, BUT FUN TO WATCH, GREY SQUIRRELS WHO LIKE THE SUNFLOWER SEEDS BUT NOT HOT SAUCE SUCH AS COLES FLAMING SQUIRREL.
THE CIRCUS PERFORMS FOR ME AND MY RETIRED FRIENDS EVERY DAY THANKS TO WAGNER'S.
BY THE WAY, WE HAVE NEVER EVER, EVER HAD A TORN BAG ON DELIVERY, WITH APPOLOGIES TO TAYLOR SWIFT :-)
I VOLUNTEER FEED AND FEEDERS TO A LOCAL NURSING HOME AS WELL AND NO COMPLAINTS YET.
Feed gruel to a group of orphans and they will eat it if they get hungry enough. Most of my birds investigate it and then go to the feeders with the good stuff (3D Nut n Berry from WalMart). The Juncos and various Sparrows will pick at the Wagner's and the Cardinals get the sunflowers. I don't see as many birds at the feeders with this mix; bluebirds turn their heads. With the usual blend I serve I have armies of birds. Doves and squirrels would probably eat the Wagner's if I allowed them at the feeding stations. My birds are spoiled rotten I guess.
