I was hooked straight away with this book, which surprised me a little being a teen college romance story but it was written very maturely.

Olivia Crawford is Finn's twin and Finn is Nate Ford's best friend. Hearing so much about Olivia, Nate is stoked to finally meet her and the attraction is pretty obvious. What Nate doesn't know is Olivia comes with a past that only Finn and her best friend Cora know about when they all start school together but very soon the secret comes to light and that's where the story had me gripped. I couldn't put it down.

The story flowed so easily and that's what made it so good to read. The banter between the four of them, I think, is what kept me interested and I can't wait for Finn and Cora's story, which sort of started and entwined in this story.

This is the first book I've read from this author but certainly won't be the last; a must read for all.

Waiting to Breathe- Alyson Reynolds

5 Stars Review

Waiting to Breathe was an absolutely amazing book. It was the first book in the Waiting Duet by Alyson Reynolds. It was a very well rounded story; it had heartache, humor and so many sweet moments. It wasn’t your typical university story and I loved that! It is told in both the main characters point of view.

Olivia is a young woman who has had many heartaches in life, after spending a year away to clear her head she decides to join her twin brother Finn at university. Olivia is unsure if that was the best decision but having both her brother and her best friend Cora reassures her. Within a short time she meets Nate, Finn’s best friend, and they have an instant connection.

Nate isn’t your typical frat guy, he’s caring and loyal, he doesn’t like to party, and he is very serious about his schooling. Normally Olivia isn’t capable of opening up to anyone but she soon finds herself trusting him with the details of her past and her concerns for the future. Their relationship is fast paced from this point forward, but in the best way possible. Olivia was a broken girl before meeting Nate, but luckily for her he has all the pieces to put her back together again.

Nate and Olivia’s relationship is put to the test when their pasts come back to haunt them and when trust is broken. They both need time to heal and learn from their mistakes. Olivia needs to learn how to stop running from her problems and Nate needs to learn to rely on someone else other then himself. They must both decide if there relationship is worth the heartache or if it’s time to move on.

I really loved this book, it was emotional at times but the love that Nate and Olivia shared was beautiful and it made up for the heartache. The characters were relatable and I really connected with them. I’m very much so looking forward to reading Finn and Cora’s story in Waiting to Fall coming in May 2017.

Waiting to Breathe: Book One of the Waiting Duet
By: Alyson Reynolds
5 out of 5 stars

The story Waiting to Breathe: Book One of the Waiting Duet by Alyson Reynolds is a coming of age romance book. This is the love story of Olivia Crawford and Nathaniel Ford. They both have secrets that they are protecting. Will they learn to trust each other so that the love they feel can survive?

I love this story and the characters of Olivia and Nate. Olivia is newly enrolled in the same college as her twin brother Finn. He has convinced her to finish her degree at the same school he is at. Then she bumps into Nate, literally. Even with Olivia heavily guarding her heart, she feels a connection between herself and Nate start to grow. Olivia is a woman who has been through an ordeal that has left her scared. She hasn’t even told her twin brother or her best friend the entire story. Nate begins to break through to Olivia and she finds herself trusting him. Then someone from the past resurfaces and threatens the happiness that Olivia now feels. Will she be able to lean on Nate when things get rough or will she push him away?

Nate has two missions in life. The first is to graduate college to become a doctor and the second is to get Olivia to fall in love with him, just maybe not in that order. As they spend more time together Nate realizes that he will have to be careful as Olivia has been hurt before and he doesn’t want to be the one to add to that pain. Nate has a lot of patience in their relationship. Being friends with Olivia’s brother helps him maneuver around some of the walls Olivia has put up however sometimes he doesn’t take Finn’s advice and it leads to misunderstandings. Will Nate be able to convince Oliva that she is the only one he wants?

This is a book that has you hooked from the very beginning and wanting to read more once it has ended. The road to true love is not always a straight line and this story shows the importance of communication and trusting each other to maneuver around the potholes in that road. Read this book to find out if Nate and Olivia find their HEA. This book does include adult situations which would make it a story for those 18 years of age or older.
4.0 out of 5 stars Impressive! March 21 2017

Olivia has finally come back after a horrible year. She been through alot and considers herself “broken”. When you find out why she considered herself “broken” you can't really blame her. Will Olivia ever be able to heal? Will she be able to love and trust again? Only one way to find out.

Nate isn't your typical hot guy. He's sweet, smart, loyal and is also carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. There's a lot more to Nate than you think and his character really impressed me in this story. He was strong, loving and the glue that kept his family together. Playing this role doesn't come without sacrifice and will he give up everything that makes him happy to keep his family together?

This is the first time I read anything by this author and I was impressed. I enjoyed the story and plot held my interests. I had two slight issues with the story. The first one was that the couple moved just a little too quickly for my taste. The second thing was while reading it was hard to tell whose point of view it was even though it was labeled. They had similar thoughts and feelings which could be hard to distinguish. Those two issues aside I found this story to be cute and an enjoyable read. It also touched on some tough real life situations. I love when you can relate to a book and everything isn't sunshine and rainbows. I'm excited to read about Finn and Cora next!
5.0 out of 5 stars Can "broken" be healed June 7 2017

Waiting to Breath by Alyson Reynolds is the first book in the waiting duet series and what a wonderful start it is! Nate and Olivia’s story will give you all the emotions you could ask for in a love story. I give this book five stars, well written with a nice flow to the entire story. It had a couple twists to make it a well-rounded book. Olivia has had a hard few years and now she considers herself “broken”. Starting her life over after making some very difficult choices she joins her twin brother in College. She’s not ready to date or at least that what she thinks before she meets her brother’s best friend Nate. But will he accept the secrets she holds closest to her? After losing so much is she ready to trust and let her walls down?
Nate’s an all-around good guy just studying to be a doctor. His home life is no picnic either but he hides those secrets from the world. He’s heard about Olivia from her brother but to him the words didn’t do her justice. Can he get past her defense’s and make her realize she can trust again? Has he finally found someone who he can share his problems with?
If you like books with pain, love, laughter and HEA endings this is a great book for you! It’s also a book about moving forward and forgiving those who’d you rather not. Some Adult content so I do suggest for the over 18 crowd.
5.0 out of 5 stars Young Love Strained April 5 2017

This book is rated five stars.
Something happens to the people involved when love comes of age. Relationships become more serious, feelings become more intense. This is what happens when Olivia joins her twin brother, Finn, at college and meets Nate. Liv was in trouble the minute that she met Nathaniel. There is an instant attraction between them. Olivia carries a terrible secret that weighs heavy on her heart, gives her anxiety and panic attacks which forces her to push people away. When she begins to feel comfortable and starts letting Nate in, someone from her past shows up and shatters her emotional and physical security. Will she shut everyone out? Finn, Nate, and Cora (her best friend from her childhood) all strive to help but they only know part of the story. Will she tell them everything so they can help?
This book is a wonderful romance with a hint of mystery. We at first are left to wonder what her secret is. Why does she react in such a way? Then when the suspense and danger enter the picture, I was left on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put it down until I knew how it was going to end.
Alyson Reynolds has written an intriguing tale of love, trust, and loyalty. She describes the characters in a way that made me feel as if i knew them. I could feel Olivia’s sheer terror a she realized her nightmares have come true. I cannot wait to read more!
