Product Description

Review

My recommendation is if you are a fan of the Walking Dead tv series, and you feel you want to read the largest chunk of the collected graphic novels in the lowest price per "chunk" format... pick up this compendium! -- squidoo.com

The Walking Dead is all about the living, the people who struggle to retain their humanity in the face of the unspeakable. So what does that mean? What good is being human when you're no longer the dominant species on the planet? And what's really left to hold on to? The Walking Dead is an examination of all those questions and more. -- John Hogan, The Graphic Novel Reporter

I watch the show and couldn't help but read the comic books.
I totally enjoy the story and I'm glad there are compendiums available so that the a fan can own big batches of the story.
It is a good value to get these books, but sometimes I still wish they could be more affordable.
I enjoy zombie and apocalyptic narratives and I love the Walking Dead stories and characters.

For such a huge book (and I mean HUGE), it holds together very well. Story is great. Art is great. This format allows you to literally read YEARS of walking dead at a time. I cannot recommend Walking dead in compendium form enough.

The only gripe I have (and there is only one), is that the collection does NOT include the fantastic cover art of the series.

If you like the show, have read comic books, and won't shy away from black & white, then don't waste your $ on purchasing 20-something paperbacks. Go Compendium form ALL THE WAY!

I'll get right to it...Loved the tv show, needed more. Bought the Compendium due to its affordable price (compared to the issues, omnibus', and books). I then, once again, needed more. So I purchased books 5, 6 and 7. I am all caught up now, still wanting more. The compendium is a great price for what you get in return, but if you like to keep or collect these types of books, then you might want to buy the individual books. They look nice on the shelf and they are well priced here compared to the stores.

FYI: this compendium is like buying books 1, 2, 3 and 4.

I really enjoyed this book, I read a chunk of it previously, but finally sat down a read start to finish. Now it's picked up because of the show, which I've only seen the first two seasons of. That being said, this as it's own thing is a wonderful and scary story about people. There are zombies yes, but I feel it's a story about what happens to a person's mental and social state when placed in this world. Who can you trust? What do you do to occupy yourself? It's a wonderful book worth reading. Especially when this compendium goes on sale.

I very much enjoy watching the show, and I am an avid reader. That said, I have never really been able to get into graphic novels, but from the minute this arrived I couldn't put it down. I now understand why they call them 'walkers' like no one in the world has heard of zombies before. :) The entire collection is in black and white, which I don't believe took away from it at all. Heads up: this does not follow the tv show - many of the overall arcs are the same, but some of the characters are quite different - nonetheless, still an enjoyable read. Note that it is quite heavy, so some reading breaks may be required!

Getting the compilation is the way to go. But the book is very heavy and doesn't sit well unless you have it in your lap or on a table. Don't expect to be able to cosy up to it in bed.

And why would you? It's bound to give you night terrors! This book is very graphic, but well written. It doesn't hold back any punches. Prepare to be disgusted with humanity, in a realistic fashion. I will never be the same. And neither will any of the people I push this book on!

Great deal! It is a compendium, so obviously the book is very thick and heavy and not suitable for travelling around with, but it is much cheaper than buying them all individually! I also didn't realize the comic is black and white which I enjoy although some others may not. This is a great quality product, and the comic is a great read too. If you want to give this series a read and aren't planning to cart it around, this ones for you!

I had never read any of the Walking Dead comics till I bought the Compendium Volume 1 and 2 for myself for Christmas 2014. But big fan of the TV series. Now, I can't wait for Compendium 3 to be released.
I'm sure I will re-read both of these many times over. Good value!
