This video makes many claims about the SS without substantiating anything really. No documentation, and no interviews of personnel who were actually there. They make claims about how hated the SS were everywhere they went, however fail to mention that the SS formed an entire DIVISION of troops from VOLUNTEERS in Estonia/Latvia. Furthermore, those troops stayed loyal to the Reich and actually fought a guerilla war against the brutally oppressive Soviet occupiers for some time after Germany was forced to retreat. You can sum this video's usefulness up to some interesting black and white footage - just turn the sound off.

HASH(0xa5daa498) out of 5 stars This looks like a winner ( sic ). Aug. 22 2006
By B. Grant - Published on
Format: DVD
All I had to do was take a look at the jacket to formulate an opinion.
Two of the photo's are from WWI ( both widely familiar ), left to right, an infantry advance in Flanders, circa 1917, and the remains of a German skeletal corpse in the aftermath of Verdun 1916. The third photo is of a torch-light victory extravaganza, that were commonly held throughout 1933.
This is how the producers of this junk present their " product."
But inside, in 60 minutes, they are going to broaden your horizon on the subject of the Waffen SS. Sure!
Avoid this kind of throw-away. If the conjurers' of this stuff can't even locate a real Waffen SS action photo for their cover ( which afterall is the beginning of attracting your money ),do you trust them to say something expanding inside?

HASH(0xa5daa4ec) out of 5 stars Be warned - IT IS NOT IN COLOR Jan. 24 2006

A standard review with nothing new. The description says it is a color DVD. This is not true: everything is black and white.

HASH(0xa5daa7c8) out of 5 stars Utter rubbish - do NOT waste your money! (013) March 5 2007
By Troy Tempest - Published on

They should be sued for saying it is a colour production, it is not. The only colour is on the cover, along with the photos that have nothing to do with the Waffen-SS. I could go on and on about the errors but why waste my time and yours? Whatever you do, don't waste your hard or otherwise earned money on this rubbish. Honestly, after over 60 years since the end of the war, and we still get stuff like this. I couldn't even sell it after I'd watched it, I ended up giving it away.

A disgrace!

HASH(0xa5daace4) out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Time and Money on This Cr*p Oct. 16 2010

Format: DVD
Another slapped together video that foisted upon the public by a cynical and opportunistic publisher. There really is nothing worthwhile on this disc. The historical research is nonexistent and thus the content minimal. Virtually no real images of Waffen SS troops. An absolutely horrid product. If I could give negative stars (-) below zero I would have done so.
HASH(0xa5daacfc) out of 5 stars Think of it as a ok research paper written by an undergrad June 19 2015
By MFXB - Published on

Ok. I wrote my Master's thesis on the Waffen-SS, so I am pretty sure I know what I am talking about. It could have been better, no doubt. Longer, more details about the whole SS structure, but we must remember when this was made. It is old by documentary standards. Think of it as a ok research paper written by an undergrad. An updated version with graphics and maps would be great. Most of the facts are dead on. Some pictures and video are incorrect, yes. That did bother me. But for a lay person, they will not really notice. They do go to great pains to stress the Waffen-SS was not the instrument of the Holocaust, but the interchange of personnel, did contaminate the purely fighting units and will forever taint them. Their brutality in combat is no different from that of the Japanese, so it in no way detracts from their combat legacy. The cover is very bad, as mentioned by others!
