Cicerone guides are a perpetual disappointment. Hand drawn, map-like scrawls at are not that accurate. This is followed up with uninventive routes. Top this off with limited information on the various places to stay or information on the towns and villages that one goes through.
On the up side, there is an elevation pictogram that is helpful. In the end you need to have a set of maps, why Cicerone cannot include actual topographic maps is beyond me. Compared to Bikeline's cycling guides, one is stunned at the total lack of planning that Cicerone demonstrates. For instance, if you have a map holder, a necessity for touring, Bikeline guides fit in perfectly. Cicerone, is impossible. But one could argue, since Cicerone does not have actual maps you would not use it in your map case.

HASH(0x9ae5f108) out of 5 stars Not the right book May 12 2007
By A. Smith - Published on
Format: Paperback
When you order the "cyclist's guide" Amazon sends out the "walker's guide" instead. They sent me the walker's guide twice when I ordered the cyclist's guide. The first time I received it was in my initial order and the second time was after I filed a complaint that I was sent the wrong product. They sent the same wrong book! Since I am cycling around Spain, I had no use for the walker's guide. I told them what the problem was and they said it was a system wide problem and that they don't actually have the cyclist's guide to The Way of St. James. So, if you order this book, plan on getting the walker's guide instead!

I don't think the daily maps are detailed enough. I would need additional information if I were to use this book only.

This book was an excellent guide for the Camino and we relied on it throughout, together with maps of the area. Perfect size to fit in a bike box or panier too!

Written too long ago, not real useful for someone who wants to do it this year, mostly due to change in geography, road sign new roads etc...

The print is a bit small but the overall book size is great for traveling; so I bought the Kindle version as well.
