The cinch is a great tool. I know it from previous experience and it's the only Oneida would consider. BuyOnline Canada is great. Package arrived in great condition and on time. Tracking would be nice. It did increase suddenly in price but was still cheaper than what I could find in town or online elsewhere.

HASH(0x9cbf4cc0) out of 5 stars Love, hate relationship Jan. 4 2015

I have made a couple of photo books and several calendars with my Cinch. When it's good, it's very good; but when it's bad...The biggest problem I have had is with misalignment and misplacement. I couldn't figure out why I was getting misaligned holes on the long side of 8-1/2 by 11 inch paper. Then I realized that the slide that is not pulled out when you start punching that length was not pushing all the way in. It turns out that some of the punched bits of paper were stuck at the end and were causing a slight misalignment. Similarly I was having trouble pushing the paper all the way in and discovered that bits of paper were stuck at the back edge and were keeping paper from going as far into the punching mechanism as they should. This occurred even when the bin that holds the punched bits was not overly full. For this reason, I recommend keeping a good stack of scrap paper nearby and testing frequently as I used up a lot of expensive paper because of this problem. A straightened paper clip is useful for "unsticking" the Cinch.

Tips I have learned in the short time I have been using the Cinch:

1. Trust the guide on the left side and be sure your paper is lined up flush and parallel with it.
2. Make sure that the paper is pushed all the way to the back of the punching mechanism and check visually if you have any doubts.
3. Getting the wires closed takes practice. I have found it helpful to have some kind of support under the pages when closing the wires. A book of the correct depth will work. I read someone else's tip to first close the wires with the recommended diameter and then push again with a slightly smaller diameter setting. Even so, I have sometimes resorted to closing the wires further with my fingers, and I still do not always get perfectly rounded wires.
4. To avoid wasting ink as well as paper, punch your pages in advance of printing when possible.
5. Don't punch too many sheets at once, and be particularly careful with thicker paper.
6. Pay close attention to the instructions that come with your Cinch, and watch online videos if necessary.

In spite of these problems I am not sorry that I bought the Cinch, and I think that with practice and with what I have learned so far it will get easier to use.

HASH(0x9cf51d50) out of 5 stars Binding Greatness! Sept. 5 2012
By FloridaKat - Published on
LOVE, LOVE,LOVE this machine. I have to make instruction booklets for schools and this machine makes it sooo easy! I was a little worried about remembering when to punch and when to pull a tab but the instructions are right on the machine you don't have to keep pulling the manual out! I have punched up to 15 sheets with ease. I've even punched a thick plastic cover sheet and heavy cardstock backing at the same problem. With the ability to hold the wire in place on the side makes putting the sheets together a piece of cake. I did have to adjust the knob to crimp the wires together but once I got the right setting I just put them in and push the handle down and it's done! Love the ability to use different size wires too. Can use 3/8" up to 1 1/4" wires....make sure you purchase 2:1 wire binding, that's important.
Next project a recipe book of old family recipes for Christmas!

HASH(0x9cdd7180) out of 5 stars So easy a Kid can Use It! Jan. 3 2013
By TL Alta - Published on
The Cinch v2.0 is great! I just made my first research journal with it.
Planning to have my 8yr old and I do crafts with this. Also thinking on all the
work projects, house items, and Gifts I can use this for!

Pro's - It's heavy duty, easy to use, flexible (hole placement and size of project), and straight forward instructions.
The coils are inexpensive and can be found for low prices on line.

Con's - Still take time to look at the youtube video's on this despite the instructions.
Not cheap ($105.99 at Hobby Lobby) but if you use a coupon (Monthly 40% off on their website) it
is comparable to the others out there and offer's more flexibility for use.

I've just started book binding and was dealing with rubber cement, clips, etc. when I saw this and the Zutter.
Did a search on line for reviews and this had the best reviews by far. The Zutter had a lot of extra pieces to purchase and calculations for figuring out how to use it and such. Not what I want in a hobby item for crafts.
This did not disappoint! I used it within a few minutes of taking it out of the box. Not complicated and very flexible for hole placement and putting it all together. Would definitely recommend this item - especially if you are into scrapbooking, or do crafts/projects that need to be bound together. This makes it a piece of cake!

HASH(0x9ce61198) out of 5 stars A cinch to use over and over again! Feb. 18 2013
By Sarah M. - Published on
I love this product. I had no problem using it right out of the box. Love that the instructions are actually ON the machine. Couldn't be easier to use. Make sure to follow the instructions and punch scrap paper so the oil doesn't get on your project. I watched reviews on YouTube and it really IS that simple. I like to make my own smash books and junk journals and after trying out a friend's Bind It All, the Cinch IS the way to bind books. You can use any 2:1 pitch binding wire, it doesn't have to be We R Memory Keepers brand. The bigger footprint, doesn't bother me at all. So neat and cute. Punches thicker chipboard and pages no problem. Love the customize the holes and placement options and I adore it. Plan on making my own custom planners, scrapbooks, albums, junk journals, calendars, and more! I have no complaints about this item except just be aware that the spiral binding in the 2:1 I could only find available from We R Memory Keepers and not in bulk so if you don't want the wire binding be aware you can't really spiral bind in bulk for that cheap with this machine. However, for my purposes, it is PERFECT. Love, love, love it!

HASH(0x9c8a3f18) out of 5 stars SOOOO much better than BIA!! Feb. 20 2014

After wasting money on the Bind it all, which could not punch straight lines over 4" since the holder piece was not put in properly, I went back to looking at the Cinch and could not be happier. It may be a bit larger, but it's so much more user friendly and easier to figure out. Being a bit larger just makes it sturdier and easier to align imho.

Why not 5 stars?:
If I had to complain about anything, it would be the oil that gets on the paper when you first get it. You are instructed to make a few punches on scrap paper to get rid of this oil, but I must tell you, I wasted a s*** ton of paper trying to get rid of all the oil that came with my cinch. It really was ridiculous and messy. I was so irritated when I got it and punched paper all evening waiting for the oil to go away that I wanted to call them and tell them they had to send me a new ream of paper!

After I finally got that issue cleared up, I do love this and have made so many projects with it already.
