Product Description

Petra Galatas sees the world through rose-colored glasses…

Petra has always chosen to see the best in people. Even her ex-husband’s extramarital affairs couldn’t destroy her faith in humanity. However, as much as she craves love, she’s not ready to trust another man with her heart.

The last place Petra thought she’d meet a guy was a closet in her ex-husband’s house…

While investigating Jonas Linden for millions of dollars in art fraud, Sam Corra’s clues lead him into the most unlikely of places—Jonas’ closet. Even less likely was meeting a woman there…a beautiful woman with honey skin and big brown eyes. Though neither of them divulge the reason they’re there, there’s an instant mutual attraction. And when Sam pursues her, he discovers the beautiful woman is none other than Jonas Linden’s ex-wife.

He’s on a mission to prove Jonas’ guilt. She’s determined to prove his innocence…

Unwilling to believe she’d been stupid enough to marry a criminal, Petra attempts an investigation of her own, and unwittingly puts herself—and Sam—in danger. First comes an “accident” that lands Petra in the hospital. Second is a kidnapping that puts Sam’s life in grave danger.

When they both become pawns in a deadly game, money, art, and love are all at stake.

4.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars for me...enjoyable way to pass some time May 30 2016

This is an engaging story about a couple, Petra and Sam, who initially meet in a closet. That is a recurring humorous theme throughout the book. This book is really 3.5 stars for me but I'm rounding up because I did enjoy it a lot. In the "like" column, the storyline is interesting and the book is well-edited. The couple are in their late 30s which I appreciate because an increasing number of books lately seem to be about very young couples and I don't find them interesting. Sam and Petra are old enough to be established in their careers, to know what they want...and what they don't. The author builds the heat in the closet and the bedroom but she leaves quite a bit to the reader's imagination; I'd say maybe 7ish on a heat scale. In addition to liking the main characters I also really liked Liam and the way he became a friend to both. The characters are developed but I don't feel like I know them as much as I'd like to. Still, their time spent getting to know each other is romantic, kind and often made me smile. They genuinely like each other as they fall in love.

Petra and Sam are both working on finding something out from Petra's ex-husband Jonas, but they don't share information with each other which lands them in avoidable trouble. The book loses a star for that and some unneeded complexity that added to the page count but not the story imho. Also, while I understand the nature of the illegal activity that was happening it wasn't clear to me exactly what was being done; perhaps I just missed that. Final thing that didn't fully work for me is that Petra was a smart woman but she was blind to a couple of folks in her life...unrealistically enough that her naive and dangerous blindspots almost--but not quite--approached tstl moments.

This is my first Reis book but it's well-written so I plan to read her again if she has other books. Good story, nice characters, relatively tepid heat...well worth the time I spent reading it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, enjoyable read! Feb. 6 2016

This is a fun story and I enjoyed reading it. Petra is a "real" heroine and it is easy to relate to her. The romance between her and Sam starts as physical magnetism, but it is so strong it leads to true love - all through mystery and a few adventures. I thought I had the "crime" figured out, but was surprised by a few twists and unexpected turns. There are a few surprises and all in all it was a good read. I look forward to reading more from this new author!
4.0 out of 5 stars An Interesting, Sweet Romance with Unique Aspects July 17 2016
By Lindsay Detwiler - Published on Amazon.com

This book is a sweet, exciting romance...but on the same token, it is so different from your typical romance. I loved the unique story line and plot. I loved how the author incorporated cultural elements, which really made the book memorable. I thought Petra was very likable and funny. I also really liked Sam's quirkiness and intrigue.

The alternating point of view helped me connect with both characters equally. I wish Petra and Sam were developed a little bit more at the beginning so I could have connected with them quicker. However, once the book continued, I definitely think the character development progressed.

I look forward to reading more of Reis's books in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved the book Jan. 28 2016
By Michelle Macdonald - Published on Amazon.com

Loved the book, I really identified with Petra and if only all guys were like Sam! I loved the twists in the story. I don't normally read "romance" but where I thought I would be squeamish I wasn't as this book was tastefully and thoughtfully written. The story is fun and lighthearted but also has some exciting parts and keeps you wondering until the end. I couldn't put it down!
