Product Description

Ditched by her high school sweetheart, Callum Archer, on the night they’re supposed to elope, Jo Kendall casts out on her own, brokenhearted.

Over the years, Jo reels in a life she loves, centered on the outdoors, fishing (favoring a lucky wedding band lure), and her fine dining restaurant—a life that crashes away when her husband and business partner cheats her, leaving her bankrupt and alone.

Then her uncle dies, bequeathing Jo and her sister, Samantha, his rural property. Jo returns to Greenridge, determined to build a new business and permanent home—without the help of a man. Unfortunately Samantha wants her inheritance in cold, hard cash and hires a lawyer to get it for her, a lawyer who turns out to be none other than Jo’s long-lost love, Callum.

Jo’s fledgling plans—and her heart—are at risk once more.

If Jo can fight her insecurities, she might end up with a wedding band that doesn’t come with a sharp hook. But should she risk everything she’s worked for, yet again? Before she can decide, she needs to know: can a lost love truly be reclaimed?

I am obviously in the minority here, but I did not care for this story at all. The synopsis says enough, and I don't want to give anything away, so I will simply sum up my thoughts.......
The writing itself was good, and the author did an excellent job of bringing the setting to life with detailed descriptions, but aside from the heroine, I didn't like a single character in this book. Jo was a hard working, optimistic, woman who had known her share of disappointment and heartbreak. I found her character to be a believable and relatable combination of dreamer and realist, and I admired her positivity and determination. I quickly found myself rooting for her, wanting her to achieve her goals. Her relationship with her sister was a complete mystery to me, since I found Samantha to be nothing but unreasonable, pushy, manipulative and unforgivably insulting, but I guess "blood is thicker than water" and all that. Callum's father was an epic jerk, and Callum's friend, Dave, was quite simply a selfish, lying, douche who displayed no redeeming qualities IMO. As for Callum himself, other than his appearance he was in no way dream man material (again IMO). Gullible, weak willed, spineless... all came to mind when trying to decide how to describe his character. The plot was pretty straightforward, but too angsty for my taste. The continual doubts and misunderstandings between Jo and Callum, aided by Dave's lies, ventured into this-is-getting-ridiculous territory, and had me rolling my eyes all too frequently.
All in all, this reminded me of a bad soap opera...not so much romantic or moving, just silly and far-fetched.

What a wonderful beginning to Ev Bishop's new series. It has all of the best ingredients for a great romance - beautiful setting, believable characters, deception, hope, regret and some surprises. Ev's storytelling captures your interest right from the first page. You very quickly get caught up with the main character's situation, wanting to know what's to become of her. As the years go by and the story unfolds, things and people are not quite what they seem. The end of the book leaves you wanting to know more about these characters and luckily, the author has the solution for that - book two!

A 'romance'... well not my first choice for a read, so I was surprised to find myself completely immersed and reading late into the night! The timely twists and characters kept me hooked, not to mention the beautiful and delicious descriptions of the outdoors and food. I do confess I was inspired to make a huge pot of pumpkin soup after the read! Ev Bishop's talented writing kept me wanting for more. Definitely an excellent weekend read!

As per Ev Bishop’s usual style, her book settings are enticing so that they draw her readers in at the onset. In her novel Wedding Bands,
the culinary descriptions alone will leave you salivating and famished.
Bishop portrays characters liken to the Phoenix rising from the ashes of the roller coaster ride of life.
Bishop astutely portrays the natural essence of the human being in that the enigmatic characters continually surprise us.
I'm pleased to hear that this book has a series to follow as I'm now entrenched in Bishop’s relentless, outdoorsy, charming and authentic characters.
Can't wait to see which direction they take us next.
Good on you, well done Ev Bishop Cheers!

Glad to see others who enjoyed Ev Bishop's new book!

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was sucked into the story right away. Loved the descriptive glimpses of scenery and the people in this small town. The believable people really got me. Panic attacks, insecurities and all. That just made it all the more believable. Twists, turns and secrets abound but at the core, a beautiful love story and the power of never giving up on your dreams!
